Front pads are getting low at 4200 miles. Genuine Honda pads are £62 which is OK but dear I think. What pads are other people using? Only normal road use.

Normal road use and pads need replacing at 4000 miles??

Let go of the front break once the clutch is released ;)

personally i would refit standard Honda pads due to many after market ones causing a slight drag (Front wheel doesn't spin as freely).

12,000 is what I get from front pads, but plus 1 for OEM, Ferrodo Race are worth trying, but they were more expensive last time I needed them.

I'd stick with Honda OEM, but check the calipers thoroughly. 4k miles sounds like pads are dragging on the discs.

    Sbs sintered all day long.

The dual carbon are mustard but shite on roads in wet, sintered are better than oem which fade IMO....

Another one for OE pads and hit eBay you'll find genuine for cheaper than £62 and mileage seems low.
Personally got 8500 before I changed mine and tbh they still had a bit of meat left?!

Have used SBS sintered and for the money they cost are a very good pad, plenty of smooth modulation with excellent feedback, also last .Tried 4 sets of them now .
But having changed to Brembo discs I am now using Brembo sintered pads which are still very good but don't give as much feedback as the SBS pads did, but still stop very well and produces slightly less brake dust.

£62 expensive for pads? ... never fails to amaze me that some people will spend hundreds of pounds on modifying bikes with exhausts, cosmetics, etc... but then want to skimp / save on something essential like brake pads ...

I use Brembo SC pads for fast road and track. The genuine Honda pads are very good.

It is in regards to what else is available - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-CBR...S-2004-2015-/131315121075?hash=item1e92fdbbb3 which many will say are as good as or better than OEM.

I don't skimp on tyres or brakes etc as you say, they are somewhat important... but I'd never buy OEM at £62 V's £38 SBS sintered.

My point was it's a difference of £20 ... hardly bank breaking when you have for example spunked £500 on a noisy exhaust :D ... regardless I've used OE, SBS, Brembo, Carbon Lorraine, EBC and a few others ... the SBS HS are good, as good as OE? No, not for general for road riding in my opinion. They also wear quickly, so the OE's work out better value for money. However, I do like the Brembo SC's ... they are certainly better than OE but at £80 they should be ... but the OE's for £60 are a good compromise as they work well in all conditions and have low wear rates compared to most aftermarket stuff.

What amazes me is folks don't see any problem running around with a flaw riddled ABS system on there blade!

Oh and I'm an advocate of the sbs pads, run carbons on the track bike and sintered on the road! :)

Thanks for all your feedback folks. I agree just over 4k isn't long for the pads to wear. One is down to 3pm. I don't ride overly fast but do mainly only use the front brake. Bad habit I suppose from riding bikes in the 70s!

Hi Simon 3mm on wear indicators ? That's loads of life left in them another 4000 miles minimum .

The oem pads are thin to start with your pads are about half worn .

I only use the back brake when parking or very slow maneuvers :)
