what do you guys use when you need to torque small 1/4" bits?

    dedicated 1/4" wrench ? or

    1/2 > 3/8>1/4" adaptor on a 1/2" wrench?

Tbh depends more on the range on the wrench! If you can get one wrench to cover all torque settings then great

I have two a 3/8 which goes from about 5nm to 65nm and a 1/2 which goes from 60nm to 130nm I think it is which covers everything on the bike

I have a 1/2" torque wrench and a 1/4" torque wrench. As has been mentioned already, it's important to ensure you can cover all the values necessary for working on the bike.

I have two 1/2" wrenches and the range I need is covered.
But some smaller hex bolts, X-head screws that need torquing (low values, generally 5~15 nm). I only have 1/4" bits for this hence the choice between a dedicated 1/4" wrench to an adaptor so that I can use my 1/2" wrenches.
Looks like you guys do not use an adaptor

Use the correct tool for the job. A half inch drive wont have the range for an M5 or M6 screw. Simples.

I don't torque for such low values, just use a regular wrench and use your feel to tighten it. The lower the torque, the less leverage you need so hold the wrench nearer the actual part you're tightening. If that makes sense?!

I use this method, just ensure that you use the correct ratchet, and not a 1/2" drive with an adaptor as you'll then have to much leverage

well guys in the end I got a dedicated certified 1/4" wrench to give me more accurate 5~20 range.

I never used my 1/2" wrench on alloy or panel bolts. only my wrist setting!
