    hi,

Now I've sorted the tyres, my next objective is to change out the chain and sprockets. I've decided on the supersprox rear and standard front (both standard gearing) sprockets along with a gold chain.

My query is if the upgraded spec chain (ZVM-X I think) is worth/needed over the standard spec chain (VX)?

Is it worth the extra money? Is it just strength of the chain I.e better grade of metal etc?

Which have you put on your blades?

I'm on my second VX. My first VX's rings literally rotted off, not sure why??
Personally I don't think the ZVM is worth double the price, longevity is really a factor of maintenance.
I've also had a supersprox but prefer Renthal HA, the supersprox lifetime warranty has quite a few conditions. The SuperSprox is bomb proof but also weighs a tonne.
My Renthal had next to no wear after 10k, had I not had to replace the chain it would be still going strong.

In addition I have lighttech adjuster and a laser aligner, both keep the chain at the correct tension and alignment.

    Thanks for the info.

Out of interest how heavy is the supersprox compared to standard?

I probably only manage around 1000-1500 miles a year tops so I think the standard chain will do me. I'm a bit of a clean freak when it comes to chain and sprockets so maintenance is usually spot on. Sounds like I'm best saving the money for elsewhere.

Dont have scales in the house but Supersprox are much heavier than Renthals(dont have OEM to compare), if keeping clean is your thing SuperSprox can be a ball ache, (loads of nooks and crannies) also the blacking on the teeth wears off and when cleaned becomes quite noticeable

What do you think of them ColinBR?

I think that combo looks great. I'm hoping it'll look good against my complete black bike. That's if I go for it after having a few things to consider from previous posts.

uploadfromtaptalk1454365731893.jpg DID 530 vx with Renthal hard anodised sprocket. Keep it well lubed and properly adjusted it'll last 15k plus.

I've used the Tsubaki chains for the last 6 years mate and can't fault them at all.

The supersprox I've had for near on 3k miles and there is zero wear on it.
As above where the chain is on the sprocket it has started to take away the black anodising, but it's the same for any sprocket. Even the Renthal sprockets do this.

As for cleaning them, I don't find it any hassle. Takes a couple of minutes extra but hay ho.

If you love beautiful parts and technics , go with Ek 3D chain and go 520.

There is a lot more to it than just the brand ...

Not sure I'm keen on the gold chains / sprockets against the black swing arms / frame ... Anyone got any more pictures?

Currently running an RK chain with talon sprocket ... Whole lot will need replacing in spring

Thanks for all the input. There is a lot to consider for what seems a simple decision like a chain and sprocket.

I'm still going towards a DID X ring gold chain and Supersprox rear sprocket but as said above I don't know if I'm 100% on gold chain and sprocket on all black bike.

    Big decision coming up.

Is VX series good enough for the blade? I was looking at ZVM-X which are higher quality.

It's the recommended chain on the DID website......They have a list of all applications....that's good enough for me. Plus I've been using them or their equivalent for some while, think I'm on my 3rd or 4th chain on 3 different bikes (2 R1's & Blade) with no problem whatsoever.

Ok, it seems the VX is the OE based replacement. The ZVM-X is the heavy duty chain that is stronger and will do more mileage ...

Scanning through EK and Tsubaki chains at the moment.

Still tempted to stay with silver! More pics please :)
