I'm not entirely sure but a lap time around Silverstone full GP circuit in a car is at least 20 seconds faster than a bike. That's what happens when you have about 4 feet of rubber being forced into the tarmac by shit loads of down force. I guess they just wanna make a TV show
Well I'll be watching it with a cheeky glass of Merlot or two because owt with bikes on has got to be a good thing & better than the ton a shite that's on most of the time
They really needed a 250bhp+ 157kg motogp bike rather than the tyco bmw even then the car has a faster lap at Silverstone of 20s+
Watched it and it was quite good albeit I felt the tests were weighted in favour of the car. Am sure it had nothing to do with them showing F1 this season
The tests were what you would expect , acceleration, braking and lap time. If anything the slalom was weighted in the bikes favour just to try and add some balance. I can't think of any other test the bike could have won other than wheelies and stoppies. A fairly pointless exercise but he'll there is an awful lot more shite on TV than that.
The tests played to the strengths of a F1 car, they should simply have been more creative. How I don't know, I'm a techie not a creative Testing a road racing bike against an F1 car was also a bit off, like testing a Typhoon against a Lear Jet, both are fast but one comes in a lot more expensive and requires more dedicated support. Enjoyed it though, still laughing at the thought of Guy Martin rocking up at Coulthard's place for a cuppa.
How about this for the next series. Instead of racing the F1 car against a BSB/TT bike on an F1 track they race them at Cadwell or the Isle of Man? Lets see how long the car lasts there
