Yeah touring car vs superbike would have been a closer comparison. Lost on the majority of the viewers though was just how close a tricked out showroom bike came to twatting a £5,000,000 F1 car...
I wouldn't have said the S 1000rr was just a tricked out showroom bike, at £250K that's an awful lot of bling. Without that special ingredient called downforce it's just not a fair or worthwhile comparison. I don't call 30 seconds a lap close btw.
A bit of marketing then? F1 is on this weekend, BMW are making a Tyco replica for £20k so everything adds up. I must admit though it was good fun whatever the result...i pressume we all new the outcome
It would have been interesting to see the outcome if, after the brake test, they had then had to carry on and do the lap. Bet Coulthard would have struggled to keep it on track with those flat spotted tyres. Just an elaborate advert for f1 starting on Channel 4 this weekend IMO.
It should be a fair competition and every team should bring just one mechanic ! I guess the motorbike would be a clear winner ! Also I couldn't see slicks on the BMW or any special parts that look like a 230.000 GBP motorbike.
