Blowing the engine on the Ducati Desmosedici - sounds expensive ! Just wondering what they go like, round a track compared to RSV4 and R1 ?

Local dude has one but not sure he uses it for racing. When I spoke to him he had not long had it - can hear it coming from half a mile away !

Yes £42k for a new engine.

Will let you know shortly how it compares to the latest RSV4 and R1M on track. Watch this space........

Is it me, or has the RR forum turned into a willy waving exercise due to the size of ones wallet?

Shame rally, always thought this was one of the better forums out here.

By the way, nice bike Simon

    Was just thinking that myself

Going to get slaughtered for this, my favourite bike to ride on the road is my 929. Don't know why, just is.

Know where you are coming from Dave, no more pleasure than hacking the NC30 around country lanes with only assistance being brain and right hand, amazing how 60 BHP can generate some much fun on a public road.

I was thinking the same, soon as I see a new post in this thread, I'd think, so who can piss higher ?

It's a lovely bike, but everyone has different wants n wishes from a bike, no need to run a bike down because it doesn't suit their needs.

I was a bit anti people getting non Hondas and being on here at first, but it would be wrong to lose the good guys and banter it people had to leave because of a bike change.

They still have knowledge of blades, places to ride, helpful tips and also nice to hear of their new bike experiences.

Was thinking of going to a BMW HP4, so the first place I asked was here to get true, honest advise and I did get some.

It's nice to be nice guys !!!

I have to agree with you really. Now don't get me wrong the R1, RSV, Panigale etc are brilliant bikes. But a personal view (of mine) is the more electronic gagetery a Motorcycle has the less I want it. I have had <<<<<<< blade for three years now and there is nothing I can replace it with.

Surely the point of a thread titled Other Bikes is so that folks can post their pride & joys up...regardless of what they cost.
I enjoy reading about them all. I'd love an rsv & if I could afford one I'd pop it on here........and I haven't got a willy to wave :D

    Top Trumps !

Bar has been set at, er, Desmosedici I think. Had to see the proof though, not going to accept it on credit !

Personally rather have the Yamaha R1, the Desmo RR is an old bike really, from around 2007-8. The exhausts vent upwards in the tail, and at normal use it sounds a bit rough, not like the sweet sounding R1.

Anyway the new Top Trump must be the new Honda RC213V-S. So please can any new owner, who has just taken delivery, please come on here and tell us all about it, so that we can set the bar even higher. :D

I think that is rant over. Off to fit Tail Tidy to the lovely Honda CBR1000 RR.

    Cool bananas.

First off, it's a sportsbike forum so it's always going to be a willy waving site.
If it's not who's got the most expensive bike it's who's got the most bling. If it's not the bling it's who's worn out tyres in the least miles or got the least miles from a tank of fuel and so on and so on.
The thing is to enjoy the bike you've got. If you don't enjoy it change it or get out of bikes.
Me personally, I think the more you throw at a bike the less likely you are to enjoy riding it, the thrill then comes from showing it off. Totally the wrong reason for owning a bike imho.
If my bike needs something I get it. If it doesn't need it I'd rather spend my money on other things.

Talking of Desmocedici's.... We were sat at Kirkmichael watching the bikes whilst waiting for the senior when a Desmocedici went past, "wow did you see the desmo" says I. Nobody had noticed it but everybody noticed the two Honda 90's with megaphone pipes. Just goes to show.

RC213V-S is a crap, has electronic aids and too much technology.
If I rode one it would turn me into a sh*t rider like Marquez, Rossi etc.

Right, off to find an old Exchange & Mart, to find an old BSA Bantam with charcoal tyres n try n get my knee down with my open faced helmet n goggles like a proper biker !!!!

So if you have, disc brakes, modern tyres, any CE approved gear, your a traitor to motorcycling ? Pussies.

Technology makes things move on, always has, always will.

    Simon, nice bike !

In speed trap infested Britain ( and increasingly Europe) a lot of people are finding it's a lot more satisfying to ride old style bikes at closer to their limit than Superbikes that only start to become interesting when you're into three figures. At normal, real world speeds 1000cc bikes are actually quite boring imo.
