I have just got back from the Hospital :(

I have to have an ECG heart monitor strapped to me for 24 hours. I have not had it on 2 hours yet and already it is irritating the hell out of me

Even worse, I cannot take a shower with it on, and I am not allowed to remove it. Roll on 1.30 tomorrow afternoon, I know what my first job will be

Been there done that so commiserations and wait till you try and have a nights sleep.

I had it three times in as many weeks.

First time it didn't record properly.

Second time the washing machine broke and flooded everywhere and me losing my temper meant an inconsistent and therefore unreliable data log.

Third time I took it really easy and avoided any kind of conflict. Bingo a good data recording.

Now I am on 3 blood pressure tablets a day with quarterly blood tests to make sure the drugs aren't screwing up my vital organs.

Personally I blame the washing machine and its nothing to do with my drinking, smoking and general candle at both ends life style.

    Good luck pal.

I am at the moment on 7 tablets a day.

It is the warfarin that varies the quantity of tablets as I am now on a blood test every 5 weeks (it was twice a week, then once a week and so on) and I hope soon my INR will be stable enough to go to 3 monthly blood tests.

Lacartin is also slowly increasing, so I imagine I will be up around 8 - 10 tablets daily before too long :(

    Thanks

I guess I am lucky in that I have never been a drinker, and fortunately I gave up smoking 3 months before I became ill.

I think it wil be fun trying to sleep tonight, but then I am working on the basis that it cannot be any worse than when I was in Hospital and I had a diuretic being pumped into me 24/7, tubes coming out of me, blood pressure and temparature being taken every 2 hours and blood samples being taken twice a day. I am telling myself that was worst case senario so it should be easier. :(

I had one fitted last month and survived and was prescribed 1 x Amolodipine 5mg a day which has reduced BP. Funny thing is I work on a Cardiovascular ward. Two weeks ago our consultants told 3 patients who all drove for a living that they had to stop driving. Two took it on the chin fine style but their partners went ape about the loss of income as did the third patient.
