Hi, I'm new to this site, been riding for 5 years now and have had my 08 Blade for 1 year.

I don't know if this is the correct place for this post but I'm after a bit of advice on parts.

I'm a short arse and dropped my bike recently lol, well I say dropped, it fell onto my car, and now apart from my Audi needing a new front bumper or repair, my bike need an O/S mirror and front nose cone.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with non genuine OEM parts or would you suggest buying straight from the Honda dealership?

I'm after quality so I'm convinced I'll have to stump up the £130 quoted for the mirror and £215 for the front fairing, which I don't mind unless someone knows of somewhere else I could get them? Thanks.

    Paul.

    Hi and welcome:)
Can't say I've had any experience of aftermarket bodywork, some on here have bought kits from china and have said they are of reasonable quality. Don't know if you can just buy the nosecone tho.

Thanks for the reply. I don't fancy a Chinese special to be honest. I just don't trust the build quality to be that of OEM BUT I also think Honda's prices are scandalous lol

I think most manufacturers are the same. I remember seeing an article that if you were to buy all the parts to build a fireblade individually from Honda the cost would be about £45,000:eek:

    Hi,

If the fairing is cracked it can be repaired. Racepaintuk do it. I've used them in the past when my zx6r slipped in ice and cracked the fairing. They do extremely high quality restoration including the decals etc.

It's broken around the O/S mirror and a piece has broken off completely, leaving a small hole. I have the piece that could possibly be fixed back in place for repair but was also worried on matching the paint if getting it repaired.

I was worried about the matching paint too...but was surprised at the result. They do an exact match. Email them photos of it to [email protected] and they can tell you if it's fixable.

    Welcome :)

Personally I wouldn't be paying the OEM price. For me its just far too much for what is essentially a piece of plastic that will, if you ride the bike a lot, likely get damaged again. I would shop about for a second hand cone or look online for something Chinese. Yes the quality isn't as good as OEM but I wouldn't say the quality is relative to the price. You may need to file certain parts of the Chinese cone especially around the lights but still, saves a few quid.

Each to their own though. I bet someone on here will have one they will sell you. Lots a really good parts always pop up here.
