Ok I was going to start out with some random funny thread, then say I am not a girl. I bottled it but some how posted it anyway... random and stupid, yes I am both. I collect a Fire Blade next week 07 model. I owned a older blade years ago. That was urban tiger colours I believe. I quit riding and started driving cars on the track for a while but I have come back to it.. Hoping to avoid riding like a tit on the road and appreciating the social scene and the bike its self a bit more. I'm in my mid 30's and live near South Northamptonshire.
I got the Repsol colour, mainly because it looks a bit like the paint scheme on the 06 Moto GP bike that won the championship.. I'm no fan boy, just like historic events and successful motors/teams etc.. I owned a 2.7 911 as a classic bit of nostalgia and I current own a Ducati 998s... very similar bike to the 996R and mine has full Ohlins, lots of carbon and makes a bit more power... It will be used on nice days. I once bought things because they did a job. This is more about poster bikes, cars, memories perhaps living the childhood dream. This Repsol Blade is apparently genuine. Having called Honda with the chassis number. I just need to pick it up.. I am still concerned the bike looks black in the photos, not blue but it does not look like the light was good and the photos maybe lo res. The details state it is a genuine Repsol and proper body work, so fingers crossed it's not been down the road and had Chinese fairings put on it... I will use this bike a bike not a show piece but I'm perhaps a little ocd. It will be the most powerful I have owned... so will be interesting. Looking forward to getting out and meeting some people out and about but no fast road riding for me.
Thanks everyone, got a 4 hour train ride and then a 3 hour ride home tomorrow, too old for that much adventure in one day.. I will be glad when it's home (hope it makes it home) I can give it the once over and then ride it for pleasure. Packing water proofs.. wish me luck
Things to look out for on a genuine 07 repsol Silver frame Gold forks Gold calipers And as you said blue paint
Picked the bike up yesterday, paint code under pillion seat PB123... I'm happy with it. Although on the way home I noticed a very slight high pitch noise at about 7'000 rpm (resonance) when my head was near the tank... It may have been my lid or perhaps intake noise but sounded a little bit like a dry bearing. Not present when the bike was static and rev'in. The bike used no oil or water over 180miles... ran at 85 deg c and was fine. It has a yoshi can on it. I guess it has not been mapped because it has flat spots... I have a brand new stock exhaust I plan to fit if possible. I want the butterfly back in and I live in a quiet town and plan to use this bike quite frequently. I will be going a few bits to it. Changing the levers, foot rest and fuel filler. I may fit a quick action throttle. I may also get a race seat painted for it as well.. Currently I have both the pillion seat with rear pegs and I have a clip in seat cover thing.
Welcome to the forum Glad it all worked out with the new bike, remember to get a picture up if you can
