    Hi All,
I'm looking into changing the gearing on my CBR1000rr6.
I would like to achieve this by fitting a 44 tooth rear sprocket , from some online calculations with a standard chain (530,114 links) this would bring the rear wheel forward between 0.3 and 0.4 of an inch. Has anyone used this setup? Were the rear tyre clearances ok with a 55 profile fitted? How did the bike handle with a shorter wheel base?

I know -1 front +1 rear would keep things more standard regarding rear wheel position but changing the front sprocket on a 2006 is a pain, and I would like to change things back to standard for longer runs.
Thanks in adavance for any input on the subject.

Run the front -1 and its all you'll ever need for the road.. you'll never change back.

No issues with clearances on the swing arm chain guides? Or making the chain work harder round 15 teeth?

I've only started looking at gearing after fitting a Speedohealer to remove the 10% "factory error".
I want to fit a 55 profile rear but see that it effects the gearing by 3%, so wanted to compensate with sprocket size.

no clearance issues. I've run a 15 for years and it doesn't wear out chains on my bike.. i don't do a lot of mileage but my race bike runs -1 / +5 and that chain lasts a season. I went for a 55 profile tyre a long time back as well and I couldn't go back to a 50 - just doesn't turn the same.

Thanks for the info, I will give -1/+1 and a 55 rear a try, that way it's a standard chain length a easy to change things back if I'm not happy with the extra pull. IMG_5484.PNG

It's more fun stopping than accelerating! Lol !

A 55 profile tyre would actually make your speedometer run more true!

Just got my -1 front +1 rear AFAM sprockets and 530 DID chain in the post. Got to try these things for yourself, if it's not what I'm after I will put standard sprockets back on.

Yep that's why I'm going for the sprocket change as I want to try a 55 profile rear but don't want to loose acceleration.
Changing from a 50 to a 55 gives a -3.1% change on your speedo and slight loss of acceleration.
Changing the sprockets (-1/+1) and to a 55 profile rear gives +5.6% change on you speedo and a little better acceleration.
I have a Speedohealer that will be set against GPS speed once all the changes are made.

It's not going to make a little difference, it's going to make a big difference. Not so much the +1 rear, but the -1 front is gonna make you want Kev's anchors :D

LOL. Just need to recalibrate my right wrist again. Can't be worse than going from my 600f to the blade. If it too mental for the road, a standard sprocket will go back on the front.

I think you'll be ok on the road as it's not too far off what I run. It will remind you of when you went from your 600 to the Blade though. I had the same smile from when I went from ZX6R to Blade :)

Just noticed my rear sprocket has 44 teeth on my 2010 CBR. Is this not standard then? If not, what difference does it make to the bike?

Hopefully someone will be along to confirm as yours is a different year, but essentially if it's larger then you'll be getting better acceleration with a lower top speed. Your speedo would be out though unless a speedo heeler was added. Try comparing your speedo against a mobile App and see if it's out.

Standard set up on a 2010 blade is 16 front 42 rear.
