I think you can get Eurosport player for £29.99 at the moment so unless you're into footie you could kick sky into touch and save money.

As if Murdock isn't rich enough!! Think your all missing the point.... Discovery own Eurosport 1 and 2 so if they pull the plug I'm guessing it's going to go to BT sport just like Moto GP:(

This might just be the catalyst I've been subliminally looking for in a decision I've been pondering for a few months now, of whether to kick sky into touch.

Without getting into the whole "300 channels of shite" argument, I've found it increasingly difficult to find anything to hold my, admittedly, short attention span across the full range of 300 channels of shi... quality programming of late...

This could be the kick up the arse I need to save myself £100 a month.

I personally won't pay for sky or virgin! Not enough decent tv to justify the extortionate fees they charge

The tv licence fee is bad enough for the garbage the BBC put out!

Swimbo and I bumped sky off recently due to excessive charges. The only things we missed were Pause Live TV and the ability to play back in other rooms using the old RF2/Magic Eye function.
To replace those functions I bought USB HDD's for each TV to enable the TVs Pause Live TV functions and I bought a Panasonic Twin Tuner recorder which supports DLNA so I can stream my recordings to any Smart TV or Phone/Tablet in the house. For any of the channels not on Freeview I just mirror them from a Mac.

It's not just Eurosport 1 and 2 going it's 13 channels in total... all discovery programs! Phoned first thing today to cancel my contract with immediate effect! As that's about all I watch on sky.... was told it's not 100% happening yet but I'm sure they have been told to say that! will wait now till the 1st Feb but as soon as it goes I will be following.

Yes, I read that discovery had given sky until the 1st February to come to a more amicable arrangement, so won't be doing anything until I know more.
Unsurprising the last date to get the cheap Eurosport player deal is 31 January :(

I got the MotoGP VideoPass when BT banged up the rate to cover football.
I find it pretty good, can watch all sessions live or wait about half hour after the race/session has finished and get it on playback.
It also has a good, well informed commentary team (because it's owned by dorna).

If I'm honest, I wasn't to bothered about losing Moto GP... as they screen it on the Monday :D but not prepared to loose BSB and WSB as well as the rest of the Discovery channels..... they got till Monday to sort this shit out or I'm moving to Virgin! I'm already using broadband and phone line so will make more sense! Murdock can well and truly stick it up his arse!!!!

Personally I don't think it will happen, there seems to be loads of dick waving by Sky and Discovery. Surely from a business sense it actually makes sense for both parties to have the channels.

I also read the Talktalk TV has ditched the channels over unreasonable demands from Discovery.
