New Blade Pricing

    Can anyone remember how much a new fireblade cost in 2008 on the road? I am sure my 09 Repsol was just under £9K. Not that is going to make much difference but be interesting to see.

    Agree, I paid less than £9k for a new RR8 registered 2010.

    This time last year Blades were available new (discounted) for £10k.

    Our local Honda dealership last year where selling brand new repsol blades for £9999 they had something like 15 in at the same time they were 2014 bikes non abs.

    Still cheap. I paid 10k for my SP1 and that was in 2000 and didn't include vat! :eek:

    I payed £9200 back in May 2008 and that included comfort seat, tail tidy, seat cowl, crash bungs, spindle protection etc

    Difference between £9k in 2008 and new price now of £15300 is roughly 70% increase which doesn't quite match inflation and currency fluctuations

    Just paid £11799 for a 16 with £1800 extras thrown in happy days, and my bike I traded in I got £1 more than I paid for it ha ha

    Paid £10,000 for a brand new repsol abs model last March . Deffo won't be buying another new one for £15,000 , wonder if new ones being so expensive will keep second hand values up

    In 2008 the RRP was £8995.

    However in 2009 prices dropped in line with the VAT dropping from 20% to 15% (around £8250).

    I bought a brand new one in 2011 for £8999 (around £2k discount) with £99 deposit and the remainder at 0% for 3 years

    You are correct, Honda's are far superior in every aspect, hell the build quality of the BMW is simply shocking...

    Can't argue with you as I've never owned one and I never actually called the build quality of the marque into question.
    I do believe however that if you asked the buyer walking into his/her local Ducati dealer with £19k in his pocket whether he'd rather have a Honda for the same money I know what the answer will be.
    I also know that PCP works much better on cars/bikes with high residual values, unless Honda rig the resale market I think they will struggle to achieve these high values that the Ducati and BMW seem to retain.
    I'm really not having a go at Honda I am just aware they have been selling discounted Sportsbikes for a good few years now and I fail to see how this one is going to change that given the information that's been provided.
    The group test and possibly stock racing circuit will decide it ultimately.

    After my Ducatis I wasn't impressed with the Honda build quality. The paintwork on the Honda was shocking, paint was so thin.
    Only advantage of the Honda was reliability, at least it didn't break gearboxes and suffer engine failure like the Ducati 1098R and Ducati Desmosedici.

    Errrrrrr Honda gearboxes don't break,,,,,, mine fired itself around the engine

    Official Suzuki prices out, standard GSXR1000 is £13249, R1000R with the trick suspension £16099, looks like the BMW is still a bargain.

    Your quite right nothing will touch Honda for build quality and reliability bmw Ducati come no where near u know they supply a box of locktite with all new dukes but have to say breaking system let them down in latter years but overcome now with Bosch

    It would be interesting to ride a 2014 - 2016 bike back to back with a standard 2017 Blade, suspension looks the same, chassis unchanged?, both have ported heads on the engine etc. given one can be picked up for c. £8k - £9k and one is £15k that's a huge jump for some new bodywork, lights and dashboard (unless I'm missing a whole raft of updates of course) - I know it has a new ABS system as that is now legal requirement.
