    Hi,
Bought a 2005 1000rr at the end of last year and braved the weather to give it its first ride of this year today.
I've not had a sports bike since the 90's and have spent the last few (20!) years on harleys and the like.
The bike had a scottoiler fitted but it was removed just before it was sold to me.
It's not as fast as I expected. I am aware scottoilers connect into a vacuum circuit. Could this cause loss of performance if it wasn't disconnected properly?
Or could it be I'm not totally used to revving a bike yet?

Handling is amazing and the engine is smooth, but want to be sure it's going as it should.

    Thanks

    Mark

Hi and welcome to the forum.
As far a your problem goes, have a look under the seat and in the tail unit for the scottoiler tube (assuming it's not been removed properly) most people route them through the battery compartment into the excuse of storage in the tail unit. If you find it just block it off or trace it back and remove it. I'm not sure it would impact the performance, the only issue would be the possibility of sucking a little extra unfiltered air. As far as it not being a fast as you expected, I think it's probably because it's so smooth and handles great it doesn't feel manic, but if you give it some, it will certainly go. I have an 05 as well, the rear sprocket is +2 from standard, livens it up a bit but don't knock the speedo too far out of whack.

Welcome, I used to own the RR5 too, dropping the front sprocket to 15 and increasing the rear to at least 42 ( I used 44 on track) will increase your fun no end, however it will drop your top speed

Hi Mark, welcome to the forum. Enjoy your bike. They are a great litre sports bike that are relatively easy to ride. Still got to respect them though.
