Just reposted in here as I'd put it in the general forum which I realised is the wrong place..... I have managed to do most of my bike modifications myself, but today I had to admit defeat and realised that I'm not very good at mechanics! Having installed a 44 tooth rear sprocket to my 2012 version fireblade, I attempted to fit a speedohealer V4. This new version doesn't require wiring into the ignition, you 'simply' locate the speed sensor coupler, fit the speedohealer to the plug and this powers the unit. However for the life of me I cannot find the bloody speed sensor coupler. I raised the tank without a problem and tried to follow online instructions to locate which of the many plugs was connected to the speed sensor, but no joy. The official Haynes manual was no use at all and online guides show the coupler close up and seem to indicate a blue plug but I couldn't see the right one at all. In the end I put the bike back together in a big huff and might just take it to the dealer to do. I've been told it's on top of the gearbox, but this doesn't help a technical layman like me I'm afraid. Does anybody who has successfully done this have any guidance please? I just can't find the damn plug!!!!! It's like being 16 again and trying to find the mysterious clitoris! Cheers guys, Martin
I did raise the tank and found a myriad of plugs. However at this point i have no idea which of them is the speed sensor plug!!!! If anybody happens to a have a photo and can point out which is the specific plug I'm looking for I'd be eternally grateful!

I've managed to find the following image of a 2008 fireblade with a lifted tank. Can somebody please point out the speed sensor plug location on this picture?
i am not sure if the plug ends up that high, the sensor itself is by the starter motor, you can see it in fig H on a power commander v install http://www.powercommander.com/downloads/16-034/install/pcv/eng16-034.06.pdf
The attached photo shows the degree to which I raised the tank. Are we suggesting that I simply didn't raise it far enough and that it rotates backwards further than this? Once further back will I see the mythical speed sensor plug appear?!! Martin
So is it this specific plug that's for the speed sensor? I guess I have to fit the speedo healer into this plug!
This morning I reattacked the job and with the assistance of my wife's small hands, and the guidance from you guys we found and successfully connected the speedo healer! Just wanted to say a big thank you for the help. Brilliant as always guys. Martin
Went to start bike today and nothing......battery so dead that it wouldn't even turn over! I've got it on trickle charge now but I'm concerned that this is something the speedo healer has done. Surely the draw of power is tiny though? I'm putting all my hope into it being because whilst installing the speedo healer and setting it up the bike was left in the 'ignition on' position but without the bike being properly started, and not something insidious about the healer. I'll give it a few hours on charge and see if it works, then try it again in the morning. Fingers crossed.
So weird. Battery was fully charged according to the trickle charger but upon turning the key nothing would happen at all. I decided to check the fuses so removed seat and looked at the main fuse beneath its protective plastic casing and found it was not blown. I put it back in and suddenly had power again. No idea why, but bike started just fine this time and the speedohealer worked perfectly too throughout a 'sensible' speed range. I cannot fathom what caused the fuse to stop working without blowing but it's up and running again. Will keep my eye on it over the next few rides.
