Try Bemoto, if your 30+ or have a few years no claims they should be able to help you out.

Is that an over the phone cost as I find 99% of the time they just send a random number and if you call them you get a better price

I'm with Bennetts, phoned up to chase my renewal letter as nothing had come through. First letter arrived and it had gone up a few quid. A couple of days later another letter arrived and it was significantly more. So I called them up and the girl on the other end of the phone couldn't understand the difference, as the 2nd one was supposedly a reprint of the first. I then had to sit on hold for 30 minutes whilst they tried to figure it out and bring the price back down.

Normal Bennetts trick. They are cheap first year then hike prices the 2nd. Plenty of other companies out there want your money so shop around.

To be fair it's not only bennetts that hike up the price after the first year, have had it with all the different companies I've been with over the years on both car and bike

Well as this is my first ever bike only been riding 4 months I pay £900 so if it was to go up I'd be paying over £1000 have to have second thoughts about having a bike :(

Don't despair! You should find in the early years your renewal quote will drop as you build up your no claims.

True, but Bennetts are the worst example I personally have seen for doing this. Many places are 10-50% more expensive, whilst Bennetts double or even triple the premium.

I've been with BENNETS FOR 3 YEARS BUT EACH TIME I GET A QUOTE FROM MEERKATS WHICH IS ALWAYS CHEAPER THAN MY RENEWAL PRICE.

I found that a small local insurer offered a better deal than I could find on any comparison website. Worth trying the small man?

I paid £1k for my first year on the Fireblade with 1 year's NCB. Expected to fork out a silly amount with being only 22 at the time. I now pay £360 with 4 years NCB protected, my second and third year owning the Blade cost me £550 and £500. Getting old is great sometimes :D

It's the old, old story, you must shop around. It's irritating to get an unrealistic quote from someone you have been a customer of, trying to play on you not checking or being a little lazy. Personally if they do that to me I will not reward them with a phone call so they can 'Graciously' price match my hard work in searching cheaper quotes out. I punish them every time, even if it costs a small increase in premium, by going to a new company. If more did this the practice would stop.

MCE seem pretty good been with them a few years now they do the same thing with the renewal but once you ring them it's back down again plus the extra benefits they throw in are worth it, breakdown, leathers and helmet cover, personal injuries plus more ;)

I had my renewal through a couple of weeks ago, I am with Bennets.
Last year was £95, but this year they tried to bump it up to £140, including a £12 admin fee.
I did a bit of comparing and found the same insurance with same broker for £105.
I rang Bennets and told them I would be going elsewhere, surprise surprise, they managed to knock £25 off their original quote.
So it pays to give them a hard time and haggle.
