Problem with cast aluminium is it doesn’t weld very well and can cause more problems than its worth

In February I got a couple of scuff marks on my generator cover - really annoyed but I was almost frozen and couldn't feel my feet. I lent the bike over and thought I'd kick the side stand out. The bike ended up sideways and me horizontal what a numpty. Anyway two or three old boys helped lift the bike (visiting my Grandma!!) off me and their was the... scuff marks. After investigation, asking a couple of mates etc it became apparent I would either have to get a new cover or... live with it. 1 new cover later I felt less p--sed off. Moral of the story is just accept sh-t happens and get a new one (second hand may also have marks!)... the angst isn't worth it...

Great news - so who did it and how much? I've got a generator cover that I might get coated... depending on cost. It's got a couple of scuff marks on it though. Any comments appreciated :)
