Hi. Finally bought my dream bike as a younger man the 2004 Fireblade with 5.8k on the clock. Have swapped oil and brake fluids and cleaned the calipers etc myself as it's straight forward to work upon. Put some T30 Evos on as it was still on 2004 tyres and it handles beautifully now. I do have a bit of front end wobble under hard braking and a metal on metal sound that's more noticeable above 30mph. Had bearings checked and seem ok. Noise is constant when I engage clutch so I guessing a warped rotor????? Any ideas guys? Great forum so far and some great knowledge on here. Look forward to seeing some of you if we've meet ups in the Hampshire Berkshire area. Cheers Craig
Hi Craig, and welcome. I also have a 2004 tri-colour (not the one in the avatar) and sincerely believe it handles better than my 2011. I think you might be right about a rotor. It might have flexed a bit from the floating bobbins. If you're able to raise the front wheel (beg or borrow a stand if you don't have one) you can hand spin the wheel and pick up the problem's location straight away. If you've been out of the bike scene for a while one of the best stands is ABBA. It also has a 'front lift' facility: https://abbastands.co.uk/
Super thankyou for the link to the stand and reply with your thoughts about the issue I appreciate it.
Hi in Eastleigh let me know if near and we can go for a spin , I am not one for ride outs as such....if you are then weds night on th 272 at loomies be careful of plod ..
I've been to loomies a few times and popped into the BMW garage and took the 1000r and RR out for a blast, good shop biscuits and hot drinks and a decent welcome with BMW. Next time I'm heading down that way I'll pop something on here Wozza and see if your about.
