would like to get rid of the round pads that are stuck around the tank, anyone recommend a good product that will remove any sticker remains and not ruin the finish, intention is to put it back to original state. thanks
Tar and glue remover mate. Any brand really, I use autobrite but Halfords autoglym would do the job. Warm them up first to remove them tho
As above warm them up first with your hairdryer. .....sorry your wife's hairdryer and then peel off. Warm them enough and you might get lucky and have very little glue left to remove. I use a little white spirit on a soft cloth to get any nasty sticky stuff off after. Ive used this technique many times, most recently on Monday when I removed some belly pan stickers. Never had any problems with it dulling paintwork or lacquer. Cheap as well!
Used it on the Chinese fairings that are on my bike at the moment and they have a cheap thin layer of paint and still had no problems with this technique!
thanks all.went for the hairdryer whilst she was at work bit hit and miss on the first one and the sticker came off and left the entire backing glue on,slowed it down on the 2nd and put more heat into it and the remainders all came off in one. The remaining glue left on the tank was a bugger to shift but got most off with white spirit and wd40. will check tomorrow when i can get the bike out in natural light, hopefully no tell tale signs left.
