Mate, with the serious amount of fluid you have used, either you have a tanker load outside your garage or you are constantly buying it. It needs to be kept stable and settle before using it, otherwise micro bubbles are introduced and it takes forever to purge them and a symptom is a soft lever. I always have a new pot on the shelf that’s sat their for weeks before using it.
Nope I'm getting by till pay day then it' a full seal kit into the calipers and start again. I'e Just bled through and got it better so I'll have another steady week and then sorted hopefuly
Retracting pistons have similar symptom o to air in the system. Leaving the lever strapped for a while allows the seals to reset giving the feeling of a hard lever but is returns after a while. When you replace the seals check for gunk or corrosion in calliper recesses as this would cause the seal to deform and over grip. Red grease on the dust seals and brake fluid on the oil seal help, don't as I did use silicon in aerosol form as this will expand the seals. Also adjust the lever to the max stroke during bleeding as this will shift more fluid. In normal use I like have the lever as far from the bar as possible so it reaches full pressure with loads to spare to the grip. As Kentblade allow the fluid to settle a night or two before using
Any joy with this? I'm having the same issue. I can't seem to get any bite on my lever until the half way point no matter what I do. Great fun when you grab a load of brake at the end of a straight doing the wrong side of 150mph.
I know this doesn't help but I haven't had any issues with feel or fade with my RR4 brakes, I really like them. Done a few track days at the pointy end and never felt fade. The only problem I had once was a warped rotor making the bars shake, once changed all was good. I run SBS sintered pads and HEL braided lines (race set up). Cant remember the last time I had to bleed them. Simple thing to check is the condition of the bolts and fluid cap, wouldn't want air getting in. That's all I got for you bud Hope this helps.
It's not a performance issue, it's simply feel for me. I'm a one finger braker, so I like lots of feel early. I've got braided lines, decent pads etc. Swapped fluid out to a high quality fluid last week but still getting too much travel. I'll be ordering a new master tonight I think.
I run hel race set up its a new fluid pot its got a new master cylinder kit fresh decent fluid and new sbs pads. I think its an issue with caliper piston seals so im going to fit a fresh set
This may be different as I don't think my brakes would be what you're after. I don't think mine have the one finger feel you describe.
Abit crazy after all the attention to bleeding and stripping, you are still struggling with braking issues. Ive got OEM master cylinder on my race bike and it reacts well to braking. Stupid i know, how good are your pads and discs, are they in spec. Ive always been fixated with the natural thought process, but sometimes it can dilute other aspects.
I would not know what they are like in the wet, my bike only goes out in the sun, I have car to go out in the rain
I took that pic as id stopped for second time to pull the snow out from around the rad and back of front wheel as it had built up and was affecting the steering. Took two and a half hours to get home.
