Sorry to hear that. Will depend upon whether the Magistrate falls in the "need it for your job so bigger fine" or "need it for your job so should be more careful" camp. Sadly not a good place to be in
Unlucky. It does your head in, all the stress of it ! Maybe go and see a good lawyer. At least they will have a better understanding of it, than trying to second guess it. Loosing your job with a family to support will probably count for something - if it comes from a lawyer. I was done for speed dangerous (our laws are different to UK) - got a year ban and a fine that cost me my money that was being saved towards a KTM ! Anyway, if there is ever a next time, I would go and see a lawyer. The lawyer can ask for the case file against you and have a look. You might have some wriggle room. A plus to all this is that this might have saved you a trip to hospital. If you are thrashing around on a bike like that, as part of your normal riding then you will sooner or later end up in hospital. Been there too ! and my cousin (except he never got to walk right again !) Although I still ride a bike, I see it as having done me a favour really.
Firstly, unless you are a totter, it is unlikely that if they do disqualify you that it would be for more than a couple of weeks. Depending on how long (assuming that it occurs) woud you be able to take a few weeks holiday, maybe throw a sickie? For these sorts of offences you are looking at a maximum of a month but usually in the region of 2 weeks. However, if you are unable to do either of those but you can show that disqualification would cause extreme hardship then the courts do have the option to replace the disqualification period with increased points and fines. It is rare for the courts to order a retake of the driving test for speeding ofenced. In fact in 40+ years in the law I have never seen anyone ordered to retake their test for speeding other than those who have been convicted on numerous occasions and been disqualified on numerous occasions. This is usually reserved for those who have been disqualified for a substantial period of time and for more serious offences such as Dangerous driving. That is why I suggested paying a visit to the court and get a feel for what is being dished out to people in a similar position.
If you attend court and explain that without your licence you cannot work and would lose your current job, you may be let off with less points and a fine
Bus is two and a half hours each way and train needs a taxi after and works out at £15. A day each way. Carnt afford that so might have to cycle the 20 miles in . At least ill get fit.
Ill go to the court i think . Boss says she will write me a letter saying i need licence to work ect .
This thread is making me lean more and more towards a naked bike. Blade is such a weapon and the faster you go the better and comfier it gets. Feel for you mate, it's so easily done.
Something I thought before I bought this Blade. Went to look at the Super Duke and the KTM guy said "it won't slow you down, your neck will just hurt more" I think something like the Street/Speed Triple with about 130/140 bhp will be spot on for me next time.
Think I'll be a speed triple owner within 12 months, really loved it when I had a test ride. Its the perfect amount of power for the road. Have to say I disagree with the ktm salesman....no way I could maintain 85+ on a naked bike.
Huh? I don't want to ruffle feathers, but with total and complete respect (and sympathy) for @Gravel trap , you can't blame the style of bike for the predicament that GT now finds himself in.
If GT had been caught on a stolen bike he would probably get a token slap on the hand , ok so he broke the limit , but to possibility lose licence and job and the upset to his family is too much ,
The throttle goes both ways and GT is 100% to blame, he's not shown enough self restraint and he's not been careful enough. (sorry GT! Lol) But maintaining 100mph over a long distance on a motorway is a lot easier on a blade than it is on a naked lower capacity/lower powered bike. Fact.
It is down to the rider however only this weekend I said to the wife that I didn't feel the need to go as fast on the naked as I used to on the Blade. Still make progress but not as frantic.
Don't remind me, was gutted when I heard Debbie Harry turned 73 over the weekend, made me realise all the years that had gone by since I first had a crush on her
With you on that one...every lass including myself wanted to look like her .....ahhh happy disco days
