I really want to own one of these, sooner rather than later - probably at the expense of the blade. Has anyone got any experience or opinion on them?

Probably the most hooligan forum !

I was on there for a bit whilst saving to buy a KTM - which never panned out. But very entertaining it was !

Really? I've no experience of it; merely looked it up for @numnut in case he hadn't thought of it!

Quick look - posts from the likes of "Foo King"; "bollocks"; :D

Probably hasn't changed. I just had a quick look - I was only on for about a month in 2008 - then it all went quiet (year off the roads time !!)

    Verry funny I remember.

Cheers, I've spent a bit of time on the ktm forums already.

My thinking was that there may be people here who own or have previously owned a SD who might say "if you like X about the blade, then you'll hate the SD" etc.

I'm thinking I may keep the blade and 'audition' a SD, then over winter or in the spring just keep the one I like most and sell the other one.

The 1st is top of the Pyrenees in2009 3000 mile round trip

Nice! The black and orange just looks awesome I think! I've found an 07 990r with 4k miles which has had a similar life to yours by all accounts. All being well it'll be getting picked up in a couple of weeks!

Probably a stupid question, but is there anywhere on the R to stash a disc lock?

Yes under the seat for disc lock.

Just check that the 07 is the all singing 990R I am pretty sure it’s the 08/09 that got the extra revs and the akrapovic headers as standard , After 09 they tamed the animal that is the 990R

Also be careful what your buying there was a superduke R race championship that ran along side the BSB these were all 08/09 bikes that had the nice plastics taken off then put back on after that championship finish there was a lot of R models for sale after 09

    Cool, it's almost practical then...

Yeah the 07 is the version before the revs and headers. So it's essentially a standard 990 with a higher rear end and a different colour scheme. It'll do me though I think - for the condition, the price is better than what standard 07-09 are going for with 10k+ miles.

You will love it, the seat is painful there is a ktm gel seat but it’s not cheap

The only known problem is the water pumps can be a bit of a pain and the engine does use oil but so do all ktms

I'm already on the lookout for a gel seat...based purely on what I've read! I'll see if some nice padded cycling shorts help as well. They'll probably be cheaper!

    cheers for the pointers
