Ow do everyone, just found this forum so thought i'd join... I reckon there will be a few lads on here i know already maybe?? Bit of history then, I'm a 28 year old BT engineer from Skelmersdale near Liverpool, I was a trials rider for years and ended up getting into bmx. That went well and i ended up semi pro for some time but in June 2006 i ruined my knee in a crash and had a knee reconstruction in March 2007. With a 1 year recovery i woke up one day and decided i wanted a motorbike, so did direct access and a week later had a 2000 R6. 3rd December 2007 i did a trackday at Donington in glorious sunshine and got my knee down for the first time. I loved it. January 2008 i began riding bmx again and within weeks did the same to my knee, which ended my bmx career. I ended up doing about 30 trackdays in 2008, bought a 2000 Gixxer 750 track bike and at the end of the year sold that, and my road R6, to put the money together and buy a 600 to race. In 2009 i raced a 2003 CBR600RR in the Hottrax Junior 600 endurance were we didn't do bad, podiums at all but one race, racing in the T&C Racing team, and 3rd in the championship. (Circuit D'Alcarras, Spain 2009) 2010 on the same bike we got our first win, this time in the National 600 endurance at Snetterton, but my team mate suffered a horrendous crash in round 2, putting him out for the best part of the year. I concentrated on sprint racing and won a couple of championships with PDMCC at Three Sisters near Wigan. (me on left - Snetterton National 600 endurance, round 1 2010) For 2011 i bought Josh Days 2010 National superstock winning R6 to race in the Thundersport Superstock 600 championship. It was a massive step up and was tough, but consistent top ten results by mid season, and found myself comfortably in fifth at Snetterton when i had to bail on wet grass after aquaplaning off track, breaking my collarbone and separating my AC joint which ruined the year. 7 screws and a plate in the shoulder, and the end of my year! I never got on with the Yam, and the new Hondas are not competative stock, so to get back to a Honda i decided to move to the stock 1000 class and bought a blade in November. I'm yet to get a ride, and will be off to Almeria in Spain to test for 4 days in Feb. The new one, Anyway, rambled on far too much! Hope i can add something to the forum Bongo
Welcome aboard fella .. Good luck with the new season and bike and look forward to some updates on here
Welcome Bongo. I'm sure you'll get on well with the guys on here, and I hope next season goes well mate. It'll be interesting to hear how your season goes
Thanks all, no mate, i was when i was in school, badly, (Was sacked from a band who then got a good drummer and got signed !!), but this has nothing to do with my name. Been called Bongo for about 15 years, but it's a long and uninteresting story i'm afraid!
That sounds interesting ,On a side note is it expensive to ''say'' have a season of racing ? in whatever class .
It is expensive mate yeah. Horribly expensive! Round 1 in March at Brands Hatch little break down Travel/food/drink (265 miles each way & 4 days there) = £150 bike fuel = £80 Entry fee = £265 + £125 test day = £390 Tyres = 2 fronts & 3 rears = £680 Then you have your oils/filters/brake pads/brake fluid/SiS electroylte drinks/general expendables which lets say £70 avaerage per round. Crash damage £0 - £1000000000 lol depending on luck! So it is expensive, which is were support from shops, businesses and any interested parties comes in. The more i can do for them the better, from providing tickets and hospitality if they want to attend, to stickering the bike up, leather patches, stickers on helmet, promotion on my website (which is being updated at the moment). It's expensive, but it's a totaly obsession and i spend little on anything else!
Ow do from rainy huddersfield. Love the intro. All the best for next season. Looking forward to seeing some pics of you on the top step.
