What is it with them? We've had some booked for ages to refurb the bathroom. Work was supposed to start last week, no show but at least messaged us. Rescheduled for this monday, got to noon and no show so wife messaged to chase. Apparently busy on a job which has over run, health problems, other problems, of course all beyond their control. Said they will probably be here next week but everyone to busy to come and start any prep work or check, however may not be able to as have to sort medical stuff which could out then out of action for 3/6/12* months, *delete as appropriate depending on part of message you just read.

Well to quote an old saying they have been "fu**ckee off at the high port" and told not to bother turning up.

So we are now months behind and off to try and get someone else to sort the bathroom. We have the tiles and suite ready, and a 8 yard skip for 2 weeks to dump the stuff that was supposed to be removed this week.

The Wife has delayed starting a new job so she can supervise the work and so is losing money, and won't be able to take any significant time off for quite a while. In the meantime I spend most of my time away from home and don't get paid if I don't work.

Effing builder is whinging that we are being unfair, and that we should understand how despite this being planned since March-ish he can't just drop another job that he squeezed in after we had him booked.

Don't know how me and the wife keep getting crap ones. We work off referrals, check previous work etc., Wife even supplies plenty of bacon rolls and brews. We understand things go wrong and tell people that, but that we expect them to keep us informed. Maybe we are being unreasonable in expecting people to do a decent job in the time they say, when they say they can do it, at the agreed price.

Funny bit is that the wife is now blocked fron their accounts in Facebook and WhatsApp, what's the matter worried she will see them on another job and comment in it.

    Tossers!!!

PS anyone know any decent builders/bathroom people who work around the Lincoln area?

Yes mate Rix Bathrooms Lincoln. They recently did our bathroom and en suite. The standard of work is remarkable. We went off reputation and word of mouth. They have not disappointed.

Thanks Des. Will get the wife to give them a call. Hopefully they may still be interested even though we already have the new suite ready.

You did right. They just take the piss. Sometimes you have to just bite the bullet and go with your instincts. Not easy finding another plumber/builder. I just hope you don't get "black balled" in the building underworld. I'm sure that happened to us a few years ago when we sacked off a roofer.

Agree, BSS. They key too your problem was not being informed. Had the builder advised you in advance of anticipated delay, you could have worked around it.

The social media blocking is a spiteful vengeance act and in my view shows their true colours. In retrospect, (duly acknowledging lost time and money) you might consider yourself better off without them.

Hope all goes well with Rix Bathrooms.

PS. If their quote is a bit too much and you're hankering for funds, Mrs BSS could offer me her NSR:D:D;).

No disrespect to any plumbers on here but i do find them the least reliable of all trades, very rarely turn up on the allocated day, had a similar experience a few months ago, waited in all day for the guy to turn up to give quote( he was due at 9am) after numerous messages left on his voicemail he calls at 5 30 to say he was running late and would call in the following day, im still waiting !
Hope you get the job completed soon Bss

Funny how during the 2008 crash, they suddenly got super helpful and would have licked yer a*se to get the contract, short memories the lot of them.
Been watching them jerk my neighbour off all summer for a small kitchen extension and bathroom refurb, turn up some days not others, 5 months in the house still looks like a building site, and their off on other jobs, seen housing estates go up quicker than theses cowboys can do a small job.
