Fan Over ride switch, anyone done this

    I was thinking of fitting a fan over ride switch over the winter and wondering if anyone had done this, I do not like the fact as soon as you go near traffic it waits until 105 before thinking of cooling, I did not know if to put in total override switch to keep it on or put in a resistor so the system thinks it is say 12 deg warmer than it is so would come on at 93,

    That's nothing, wanna try riding an rsv4, see much higher temp then that

    That seems a great unit, BUT the blurb specifies that it be connected to an 'after market' fan. Might that be a concern, OR, is it reasonable to assume it would fir to an OEM unit?

    For @Jez, many MV owners fit manual switching to their MV F4s because of their overheating history. I think if you or a knowledgeable tech (with due respect to your engineering background) wired in a manual switch I think that would be the preferred option.

    I like the resistor idea as it should be very neat, but why is this an issue over the winter? :confused: If higher temp is a concern then in the summer would be worse surely. It’ll take longer to cool down from 105 on a sweltering summers day (they’re getting more common with this global warming malarkey) than on a cold winters day. Whatever, you’ll have to do some decent bench trials to determine the required size of resistor.

    I ride in the summer so in winter I strip the bike and do any mods That I can think of,

    Apologies @Jez I misread your post - I see now that you are thinking of doing this mod over winter, not for winter - which makes so much more sense :D

    one thing i do know is people have fried their ecu trying to do this, I will have a look at the wiring diagram to decide, The ecu will have a transistor output to the relay, transistors do not like voltage in the wrong direction, most also switch on the neg side not the pos

    The temperature that the fan kicks in at is set in the ECU. The Woolich Tools will let you change that temperature, along with a number of other settings. It would be the best option, IMO, if the ECU is supported by the Woolich Tools and their website suggests that it is from 2006 on.

    Gee I'm loving all the stuff I hear about Woolich. Just sent them an email.

    From first looks it appears that I'd need different software for each Blade or each bike. Out of the question at 300 quid a hit but I could hope there's some sort of package available. Reckon I deserve a Christmas present.

    For the VERY few members who haven't downvoted me - how about starting me a Crowdfunding appeal :D:D

    I wish I was a bit more computer savvy, but at least If I got this software my bike would not over heat, chances are it would never run again
