    Holy crap!! I just can't imagine the panic level that would inflict!!

    This must surely be a 'head in the sand' attitude by Honda. I hate to be critical of the brand, but the matter was raised nearly 5 years ago in this thread alone. If I were buying a new model, I'd be VERY nervous!!

    This guy and his mate came up from Cornwall that day we spoke, he may read this and respond, whether Honda have a software problem with their ecu's which are rumored to be Chinese, remains to be discovered. Like whether John McGuiness will ever get on one again?

    It’s put John off, he’s going to norton. Guy Martin says it’s a Jonah. Honda say their problems related to the unique racing version only.

    Of coarse Honda would say that. They didn't have a problem with the road going ABS either. Or did they? Weren't ready to acknowledge that either, so I keep a set of non abs hoses ready for mine if it plays up.

    Is that Bosch ABS? There is a small line in my 2010 owners manual(I've mentioned this before elsewhere) that says there may be a change in front brake feel at the point the abs switches in and out. About the speed filtering may take place I'm guessing. 5 mph.

    I reported it to Honda already. You can tell them to look at call ref 1100004. No knowledge? What a load of cak.

    When I logged that, the most I ever got was laughter. Thy appeared to think it was hilarious. Then they cut me off. Every time I rang back, they'd piss around and then cut me off again. I gave up in the end.

    Its now July 2018, I'm out and about in that absurdly hot weather on my 2010 blade/abs and humming along in a steady breeze for 1/2 hour or so, so no stuck in traffic and all of a sudden the ABS warning light is on. Strange methinks, I'm just cruising, no real braking. So I pull over to a view point along the Cornwall coast, have a quick check for fluids etc, all OK. Chill out for an hour leaving the bike in what little breeze there was. Get back on, ride off, no ABS light. In a past discussion someone mentioned the position of the front valve behind the exhaust as being a bit of a hotspot and could that give some of the reported ABS problems. All I can say is the light was off all the way home and no probs.
    Just throwing it out there for info.

    Hi Friends,

    I have recently bought a 2012 ABS model. I know big mistake however after reading all this info i am a bit confused. My bike is loosing brake pressure on the lever when i am moving slowly, now at higher speeds the lever feels ok. Is this a "normal" feature of how the brakes are working on the bike?

    Yes, same on my bike. At low speeds the ABS is disabled, which results in a more spongy feel. Once you exceed a certain speed (20mph?) the ABS system is enabled and the lever feel changes to a firmer feel. It's a "feature"..... o_O

    Is it something i should worry about like the brakes failing when at the track?

    Theoretically, you won't be going slow enough to experience that at the track!

    The ABS issue seems to be one of 'luck of the draw'. I have not been affected so cannot give first-hand advice. The consensus is though, that there is NO WARNING if a malfunction is about to occur.

    Yep, I am sorry but that's the state of the situation. A couple of members who HAVE been affected might post this evening after arriving home from work and having a lavish spread of dinner laid out on the table by their devoted wife/partner:D:D

    When did it start acting like this? Mine started to loose pressure after riding home from work, but no abs light on the dash.

    Too late in your case but all pre 2017 abs models are best avoided, because it is luck of the draw. I can speak honestly now about my bike as I've now part ex'd it. The braking system was absolute shite. Mainly the front brake would have no bite whatsoever but occasionally the back brake too.
    Fortunately I survived the many incidents I had, but it makes me wonder if anyone didn't. Looking on the bright side I was able to use the dodgy braking system as leverage to get agreement from the finance director(wife) to change the bike.

    Hahaha i cant re-convince the wife since i just bought it. So my option is to remove the abs or live with it?

    I chose to live with it for six years, so it can be done.

    Apart from the spongy lever at low speeds did you have the flashing abs light on the dash indicating a malfunction on the abs system?
