I have just booked for another track day and thought i might look at mirror blanking plates.

Why the hell are they so much money for 2 small plates, i know £40 isn't a huge sum but for what you get it seems alot.

That's your welcome to the world of motorcycling. There are so many products, both OEM and after market that seem to be priced disproportionate to equivalent non-motorcycling products. Take as an example, an exhaust muffler for a Ford Focus is around £100:
    https://www.autopartspro.co.uk/carparts-online/muffler/ford-focus/focus-iii-box-body-hatchback

Buy the same OEM product for a 2011 Blade and you're shelling out £968: https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/part...l-spencer-blue-any-cbr1000rrb/exhaust-muffler

We just accept this as the norm. Shame, cos there's not a damn thing we can do about it.

I got some Chinese ones, £6.99.....listed as for an R6 but they fitted my bike no problem. They had an R6 logo on them in white so I just rubbed them down a bit with a scotch pad and sprayed them satin black. It still showed through though as it was embossed so I just stuck some Honda wing decals on them. No one would have noticed though it was just my OCD.;)

Here they are, bit more expensive but still cheap as chips! Grub screws supplied might be too short depending on model but you can buy longer or shorter ones to suit. Also I only used one grub screw in each plate, having two in doesn't quite line up with the two holes in the fairing fixing points. Screenshot_20190312-211153.png Screenshot_20190312-211216.png

I 3D printed some for mine when I saw the comedy prices. I will see if I still have the CAD file if anyone is interested. I'll dig them out and post some pictures up tomorrow.

Can’t you just drop the mirror bolts back in without the mirrors, or is it different on the RR8+?

Unfortunately not......on 08 plus model, where the Base of the mirror sits, the fairing has a complete hole, rather than two bolt holes shall we say! Meaning a couple of bolts or zip ties/tie raps just won't do the job!

Blanking plates is the only way of securing the front fairing/nose cone down properly :)
