The black finish on some part of my leathers have faded or just rubbed off over the years. I bought a small leather tinit solution few years back but was not happy with the results & the color left behind. Any suggestions on any good product satisfactorily tried & tested??
I think @blink might be the best to answer this. In his absence though, I have used the leather conditioning coloured shoe polishes found in good shoe repair shops or women's footwear retailers. I have even used a red one for the MV pillion seat. Very effective.
I never found anything that looked like it would work. I did use the cleaning kit with the dainese but as expected, it made no difference. its kinda disappointing that the leathers wear but there doesnt seem to be a kit to darken the wear marks
There's a dry cleaners do a refurb service, think it was Johnson's, they redye any faded parts and can even do repairs
I have tried the shoe wax route but made a mess of the furniture! This one sounds promissing. I'll look into it thanks
I guess as long as the dye or wax is not brown, having it on your knees can be embarassing when your GF sees them got in touch with shoe doctor and they suggested Fiebings Leather Dye. So this is what I will try . fingers X
I finally got round to doing my jacket. The finish although black, has a hint of reddish shine to it from some angle. Similar to black ink. The product itself is good and very potent so do not wear your sunday best but gloves instead. The results will depend on your skill & experience I guess so practice on a section first. I ended up doing the whole jacket to get a reasonably uniform finish. Ended up doing 2 coats but it all depends on the leather absorption which is not uniform. Once dry, give it a wipe with a cloth. It helps. For touchng up only I use a black sharpie
took me a while but finally managed to get to the end after a lot of sweat (but no blood!) I took a side by side pic against another black leather jacket to show the hue of the shine. Once done, there was still a lot of black dye which I wipe off (not fully unfortunately) Also felt the leather finish needed a coat of protection so treat it with nikwax neutral leather conditionner. This got some more black dye off but also removed the hue of shine so the jacket is black. Must say I was disappointed with the amount of dye I wiped off; next time, I will give my nikwax black leather conditioner a try. Maybe it was because of my inexperience. I am happy with the current results though
