    Hey all,

I've got a trip to South Germany (Ulm) next month - 4th to 12th - and was wondering what you tourers use to plan a trip and certain roads?

I've found this website, https://motorcycle-diaries.com/en/trip/add Which is great, you can add a start point, and end point and it will highlight certain great biking roads in the area. This can then be saved out and imported to your SatNav.

    Anyone else got any ideas?

Just get yourself a good road map and look for the roads that have lots of bends, decide where you want to be at the end of a days ride, and then choose main roads or something a little more interesting, set yourself a daily ride mileage and go for it, remember to allow time for coffee and eat breaks, and just enjoy yourself.
Germany is a fantastic country to tour.
    Enjoy it

That website looks good, and I have never heard of it before. Probably a great idea - why not ?

I usually do the above map based planning. But that doesn't always work out.

A couple of issues I have had with the map system is that it does not show speed cameras (my map didn't but others might), nor did it show speed limits. So headed for the lovely Lake Constance in Southern Germany and discovered that there was a huge number of 30 kmh speed limits, endless low speed limits - took all day to ride. All very nice, but slow slow moving all the way.

Another time, recently, headed for the lovely roads around the Massif Central - to be greeted by speed camera central - they were everywhere - and now at the lower speed limit - hundreds of them. The map did not show that, it just showed what should have been a lovely ride along twisty roads.

I have found that if something looks good on the map, then it probably has already been recognised as a good road to ride - but it is nice to discover that for yourself.

Look forward to some pictures and hearing how it went.

    This is useful!
I'm currently planning a Portugal trip for September, and I just spend hours on Google Maps, save them in notes on my phone and use that for satnav.
I may try this website I think.
