So basically 5 litres which is a small to medium tank bag.

Although I'm no expert I'd risk a bit more than 5kg. I might even double it, but I'd have to play it by ear. If I were you I ditch the extra top plate

First time posting but been lurking for ages!!!

I've got the H&B base plate, clips in nicely in place of the cowl. Had cut out slots on the sides and some on the rear but nothing on the front. Just toured 2k miles round Germany last month and had 60l of Kriega bags (1x30l, 1x20l stacked and 2x5l attached to sides) strapped onto it. Was significantly heavier than 5kg or even 10kg of luggage more so when you factor in weight of the base plate and had no issues with the SP frame at all. Having said that I wouldn't want to load it up like that day in day out!

I'm with you, I'm sure there is significant leeway. Do you know what your luggage weighed?

Not exactly, but would guess 15-20kg min. I had 7 x socks, underwear and t-shirts, 1x jeans, 1x jumper, 1x shoes, two 1.5l water bottles full, can of lube, compressor, puncture kit, waterproof over suit, first aid kit, small toolkit, phone charger & cables, small jump start battery pack, spare pair of bike gloves, small laptop........ I think that was it!!!

For @Noel the hugger is £200 OEM:
    REAR HUGGER
    08F70-MKF-D60ZA
    R-334 - VICTORY RED

I know this is 'old news', I must have missed the thread because I don't do luggage!!:D
