Soooo..I love my '16 SP, but want a new blade. Would you trade the Repsol and get a 2020 or hold on to it, trade the new BMW S1000RR track bike in or just take the hit and buy a 2020?

I am all over the place, I know.

I am one who has made an commitment to the 2020 - provided that it's not just another couple of stripes on the same model. I have had word from a reliable Honda source (and we all know how reliable that might be:rolleyes:) that the 2020 is, in fact, a whole new bike.

If the 2020 is merely a paint job, I'd keep the Repsol. It's probably a superior bike anyway - and you know the bike.

I think the BMW is worth keeping. It is my second choice of 1 litre bikes, although I'm out of the market due to my prospective Triumph purchase.

The BMW is a track toy, but I realize my track days are getting fewer and fewer every year, so the BMW wasn't a good purchase.

I think if the 2020 is all new as you stated it might be, the Repsol goes in on trade. If not, it stays in the paddock.

It's a tough one but depends how much you want the new bike to cost you. The BMW will obviously be worth more so a 2020 blade could be yours for not a lot of money? ;)

    How about:
See what Honda puts on show at EICMA in November. That will likely be the first showing of the new model. Then if you like the look of a new Fireblade then see the first road tests in early 2020 - see if they even enter the TT with one.

Then if it looks good and you like it get rid of the Beemer. Maybe keep the Repsol SP as that is class and not a huge value looser to keep it for a bit.

Yeah, was talking to a guy I know in the UK who "has contacts".
He has been reliably told the new 2020 model is a completely new machine built with the WSBK challenge in mind.

Hope thats true! They've been hinting at the V4 for a while, so would like to see it.

A V4 would never received the Fireblade or CBR designation though. I'm sure Honda would revert to the VF or RVF tag.

In the final analysis though, we will never be given authentic pre-release info. The classic is my letter from Triumph Sales Manager:

'. . . the reason that the Factory tour guide staff denied this machine being introduced , is quite simply because there are no short term plans to make a TFC Moto 2 replica.'

Today in MCN Triumph announces the Spring 2020 release of the Daytona 765 Moto 2 'Limited Edition' Replica.

Conscientious consumers will continue to be lap dogs to these organisations where we beg for the meal and then just front up with our money. Of course, the alternative is, stuff them, don't buy the product. But then who is the loser? We have our pride but no bike, and the companies sell their budgeted amount of units no matter what.:mad:

Well there are going to be little winglets on the mirrors, and that's all the patent people have managed to discover... Not holding my breath.

I’ve still got 2.5 years left on my PCP deal but I do like the look of the new S1000RR.

I’m a Honda man at heart tho - hopefully the 2022 Blade will be a thing of wonder (and a V4!)

2020 Blade. Well hindsight is 20 20 so maybe it will all be about the blade Honda should have built.

Hope they prove me wrong and sources have been on about a brand new blade for so long now that it has to happen eventually, but will anyone be holding their breath?

You know you can exit the PCP finance arrangement exactly halfway through if you wanted too. Honda finance told me this personally....... With no penalties, just the same as if you went full term! ;)
