Congratulations Matty on your beautiful new bike, Love the 2019 colour scheme on thr R1s.
Looks like the search for a tank pad continues.
I just went for the Yamaha genuine accessory tank pad, from my local dealer display stand . :)

Lets be seeing some more pictures

Thanks, so pleased to finally get one !

The plan is to use it as a road bike - maybe the odd trip to a "road bike only" type track day, or maybe Santa Pod.

The issue with living here is that the ferry port for arrival in France is in St Malo - so all the interesting stuff is really the other side of France, in every direction - The Alps, The Pyrennes, the South of France - France is quite big, so it always seems that I have to ride across France (there and back) to get anywhere interesting.

This riding across France all the time puts bigger mileages on the bike. I don't mind because it is riding the bike - which is great. The only other idea is to get a van, and do some of that mileage in a van, with the bike in the back. But to be honest I rather ride the bike !

The Fireblade was brilliant at those sorts of trips.....

    Excuse for another picture... :D

Looks lovely in the sunlight. The Police stopped the traffic for some race horses, so parked it in the road and got off.....

Mileage piling on already, about 350 miles so far, should have it run in easily in time for the trip to the TT :)

I'm wondering with all this good R1 talk and pics whether @Great Guy is doing the rounds of dealers?

Forget the panniers for the Blade; just go the whole hog and get an R1 with panniers in the deal!:D

Yes, I will get a tail tidy sorted and I have ordered a new number plate already.

To be fair the bike is only 6 days old - only 4 days old in that picture ! I quite like the Yamaha one .....

Very pleased with them, from the first ride out on the new bike, with new tyres.

Took the bike to the Isle of Man TT week and eventually got it up to speed (me more like !)

Some pretty quick corners, and putting power down out of corners - all ok. No issues with any of that, no issues with uneven turn in - nothing like that. The tyres coped very well with that performance side of things on the road. Especially thinking of that left hander - before they slow you down to 60 mph for the Bungalow - big ask of the tyres - but no issues.

They seem to warm up very easily, but we are in summer, who knows what they will be like in February ! but no issues of tyres loosing grip, or uneven fall-off.

Came back in the pouring rain - torrential rain on the M5 or M6 - no issues with grip in the rain at motorway speeds - that went fine.

I spoke to the Dunlop guys at the TT and I told them about them and asked if they were a competitor for Metzeler's M7 RR road sports tyre and he said yes. I agreed because I wanted a road sports tyre, rather than a track tyre, and I think the SportSmart Mk3 does that. I am sure they are not as good as some track tyres for the track - but I do not care about that.

    Pleased with them.

New bike covered in cack at the TT - digging in those tyres. I did see 135 mph come up on the dash during that trip to the Isle of Man - some might say not trying very hard :D

And they paid me my £30 cashback ......

You need to remove the breadbin from under the bike and liberate some noise. The Leo Vince baffled header on the MT is awesome as a decat as it takes the edge off a full decat a little. Only £170 too, maybe they do one for the R1????

While on the subject , Yamaha have release the new choked up, four catalysers, Euro 5 compliant face lift version of the R1 for 2020.
    https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/new-bikes/yamaha-r1-/

Think I will stick with my Euro 4 version R1 for the mean time.
Next bike I will need a good pillion seat, as missing my ride outs with the wife on the back.
Hope Triumph bring out a new version of the Triumph Tiger 1050 sport for next year.
