So, first saw this scooter whipping down the hill towards Sorrento and thought “Nah couldn’t have been”. Then again later spotted it slaloming through the traffic near the railway station “Surely that wasn’t a .....”. Down in the old town where all the tourist shopping is and the streets aren’t more than 8’ wide it was parked up and yep it was a ruddy great gas cylinder on the foot deck. Spoke to the guy and that’s how he delivers them all day every day. His place is out of town and he brings the full ones in and takes the empties back. Asked if that wasn’t a problem with the local police and he said he’s never been stopped.
What you see in some foreign places is a real eyeopener sometimes. I've seen a family of 8 on a scooter. There might have been more, as it was difficult to count them. You would expect better with Italy though as it is Europe after all but just look at general drivers in Rome. I think its the worst place I have ever seen. First time coming from the airport into the city the taxi I was in nearly got wiped out 3 times, and I mean proper wiped out. Sitting at traffic lights was rather funny, if the first car in the queue is not already rolling but the time they hit green then every horn in the line is already blaring. Emotional Italians??
I love it....if there wasn't a complete lack of h&s in other countries we'd have nothing to laugh at on utube
The journey on a bus down the hill into Sorrento is quite a white knuckle ride!! Every car, bus and scooter you see has some kind of damage to it in some form or other. The scooter riders are just insane, over taking on blind corners and barely any gap to start with! On the flip side though it's the most beautiful country, the Amalfi Coast is something else..... Love the place! This however was a bit optimistic on the drivers part. Not sure whose that shopping basket was but it was causing a severe traffic jam!
