Well it rained this evening so had a bash at the spark plugs. I know I asked the forum if they would need changing at 4 years old with 5k on the clock and the consensus would be that they would be fine....but it just happened, I don't know how? Was online one evening and before I knew it I had bought a set :rolleyes: along with a few other goodies. Oh dear o_Oo_O;):)

So after a bit of fiddling the plugs and filter were changed in about 2 and a half hours, but that included taking off the fairings as well. The fairings probably took me as long as the plugs as I'd never had them off before so was learning as I went and didn't want to be too forceful. Next I fitted the mounting brackets for the R&G crash protectors ready for when the fairings are refitted. Tomorrow I plan on warming the bike up to temperature then draining out the coolant from the system and expansion tank. Then letting things cool off and remove the radiator to get that blown out too and filling up with fresh fluid. I also have the R&G frame guards but hope to find some other logos or emblems as I am not fitting the R&G ones. The logos will stay on the sliders but I am not turning my Honda into an R&G advert by putting their emblems into everything of theirs I have got. I already managed to cover the logo on the tail tidy with a small oval reflector ;)
Must say the heel plates I got from Beowulf are excellent quality and with them being stainless they will be able to be kept shining whereas I think carbon would scuff easier (only right side shown in 1st photo as i fitted the left one last week and its in the photo below).

The hinged tank is a nice touch and a piece of rope kept it out of the way no probs

Hey Jimmy, just as an OCD touch, get some black Harpic onto your header pipes followed by Autosol and you'll be amazed!

Hi @nigelrb Not too sure about the harpic?? Although i have found dirt and grime from that pesky chain. May have to get the Dettol out, or maybe I will stick with Jizer and a stiff brush :)

Then tucked her up for the week with the optimate on. Not sure how many more rides I’ll get in this year! I think she will be getting a few upgrades over winter. After giving her a bit of care today I think she deserves a few quid being spent on her

@LRJimmy. Ooh! Get you with the Snap-On kit!
If you haven't got Jizer (it's quite dear) I found paraffin just as good. B&Q £4 for 4 litres.

Gave mine and me a good wet wash in torrential rain lol.....you forget how superb these Blades are for a sportsbike in poor conditions...no aids no abs and they just breeze through it all :) I love them :D

You certainly do mate. And they do some great specialist tools that hardly anyone else does. I've got plenty of their stuff that I've had since the 80's too. The quarter drive flex sockets are my favourite for working on bikes!

Lucky you, i only have the cheapo argos crap for 1/4” as i rarely used anything that small and im not going to bother spending that kind of money now for the amount of times I would use them:)

    Hi @Alan Taylor
The strip on the floor is 3/8 Snap ON Flak Drive and well spotted there is a Halfords hex key socket sticking out of the securing bolt for the gear selector. I really need a new set as i have snapped most of them now but have several other brands that make up the shortfalls. Halfords do a Pro range that im keen on trying as I believe they come with a lifetime guarantee?

Fake tyres on eBay. That's seriously worrying. What did MyTyres say?

@LRJimmy. You're quite right about the Halfords Pro stuff - I've had loads to do with those (through colleges) & they do come with a no quibble guarantee. As long as there's no obvious signs of abuse, it's a straight exchange. They're not nearly as strong as Snap-On (natch!), so you have to be sensible with them or they'll let you down mid-job. They're great for the money and, as you say, it's not worth coughing up for Snap-On or Mac. I mentioned the 1/4 drive flex sockets yesterday & remembered I lost my 8mm ages ago. A new one today is just over £40!

You don’t get much for £40 now, a bacon roll and a tin of juice is over a fiver. I used to get a weeks lunches for that doing my apprenticeship but even back then one Snap on socket was a tenner
Ive had a few replaced too, and in fact i have a 3/8” ratchet in need of new internals so should really give Mr Snap on a call....it’s dangerous getting in his van though as its like a proper kid in a sweetie van. Hahaha
