So the blade has gone to a new home, but has been replaced with this Makes a nice stablemate for the MT SP Hoping for some nice dry weather before she's put away for the winter
No it was only delivered this afternoon, give me a chance, if you were going by the tyres that was the previous owner when he used it on the YRE Day. For those that don't know, if you order a new R1M you get an invite to a Yamaha Racing Experience day at Silverstone or you can chose a European track, its over two days 1 day on track and the other day of workshops about how to get the most out of it and how to set it up etc, plus a gala dinner at a nice hotel.
That's great! But if you buy a Fireblade SP2, you're lucky to get a friggin' coffee from your dealer.
Lovely . Evotech make the best tail tidy .Plug and play using oe connectors .. Take a look here .. https://evotech-performance.com/collections/all/make-yamaha-model-yzf-type-r1m-year-2016 Ps a De cat improves the mid range and the sound
Plug and play except you have to cut the wires then rejoin them, so not really plug and play then I might de cat at some point but don't want it too loud
I reckon that's a powerful sales tool. Would really seal the deal for some purchasers. Question to the R1 converts, is the 'M' so much better than the basic?
question back to you Nigel, is an SP so much better than the standard blade if you know the answer to that then apply the same logic to the R1
I think the logic should be between the R1M and the SP2 rather than the basic SP because these are both the top line production models. Still, it's an unfair comparison, because from what I've read about the R1 and R1M the difference in quality and extras is far superior on the Yamaha, hence my question. SP2 doesn't get carbon fairings and track day, numbered plaque, 197 bhp, gas pressurised forks, 200 section rear tyre, and £2,000 less than the (former) RRP of the SP2.
Nigel, I've not looked closely at the Fireblade SP or SP2 to be honest, but am aware of the differences, one thing I would say is that my R1M does feel and look very special compared to my Standard blade. Personally I feel the R1M is worth the extra money over a standard R1 although lots of guy's with standard R1's will disagree, its the same with the MT10 and MT10 SP I feel the SP is worth the extra, but to be fair I got such a good deal on my SP, i only paid a few hundred quid more than a standard one so it was a no brainer. Its all very subjective and gets discussed a lot on the Facebook pages, lots of guy's who buy the standard R1 say its a better track bike, which I think is nuts the M has an awesome datalogger and if you know how to get the best out of the active ohlins its just amazing. I also hear lots of wanabes saying the ABS interferes, which is also bollocks, I know 2 very very quick lads who race and have ridden R1's on track a lot and have not had any issues with the ABS so why some mid pack lads do can only be down to bad technique.
