Hi all Do you have to remove the battery from the bike before charging it? Or can I just disconnect it and connect up the optimate? Thanks Rob
If you've purchased an Optimate, it should have a plug lead with the pack that you fix to the battery terminal and then just plug in the charger as required. (Plug may differ)
Yes as above although Mrs W unplugged to put the outside Christmas tree lights on looks like Las Vegas outside...looks good really bright ....need to get a adapter in morning to keep sp alive!
Tell Mrs W to turn off the Xmas lights and 10.00 pm and plug the bike back in! It's a matter of priorities. Santa would be on your side.
I have one of those Oxford 'keep it topped up' toys and it just plugs into their connector that I put under the rear seat hump. Very convenient. I'm a bit neurotic about batteries as I used to own a Range Rover that used to go flat on any excuse.
Your optimate will have a pair of croc clip connectors as well as the ring connectors. Slightly more initial faff to put the ring connectors on but once they’re on just plug and charge at will - save you taking the seat off etc. You’ll just need to work out where to store the optimate plug. I ran mine under the cowl so have to pop the cowl off to get to it, but you may also want to run it down into the frame and zip tie on there instead. Have you got a lithium battery or standard lead-acid?
Good point, and one that should be asked of all these relevant questions. I'd hate to think someone would fry a battery because of using the wrong charger/battery combination!
