Let’s see how it compares to the rest of the 2020 options out there before rushing to condemn it.
Anyone know when the first press rides will be?

No wonder they are planning just a few units per dealer let's see the group tests....makes a BMW m sport a bargain at 20k with 3 yr warrenty also Not far off V4s at 25.4k....my plan is keep my sp until next Christmas then start to look ,think by then the Ducati will have a front end facelift with the wings built in ....also R1m owners get free track day great customer engagement ....Honda gives zero...

And now that we have a definitive answer (after another round of testing) on the Torque Control questions about the current bike, there is not a compelling reason to jump models other than you want to get the new bike.

It turns out the majority of the unpredictable nature of the TC of all the US flashed SP2s was due to the ECU Flash, not due to the tyre and sprocket changes!

Which explains the positive results the UK crew were getting with tyre changes.

If the new bikes system is like the Ducati and allows turning off rear wheel lift mitigation and rear wheel ABS then it is an improvement on the track, but is it an improvement worth the extra money? I guess that's the tough question.

The VF was priced daftly, that is true. It sold few bikes as a result. The GPZ was a better bike. The NS was £2,899 new. The RG500/RD500 were of the order of £3,200 new. So the Honda was cheaper. Regardless, none of them sold well. Realistically no one wanted 2 strokes then. If you compared an RG to the GSXR 750, the 4 stroke was a clear winner.

The new Fireblade is ridiculously priced. There is no way your average Joe can afford £20k on a standard bike. The RR6 was only £8,995 new

One thing that annoys me about the pricing of the new Fireblade is the lack of choice we have if we want to own a Honda now. There is no real cheaper alternative to their flagship bike. The CB1000 has the engine from a 2007 Fireblade. CBR600RR is gone.

Yamaha has the sensibly priced MT10 which gives you the same engine as the R1.

Ducati have a V4 naked and a V2 both sensibly priced.

Suzuki GSXRs are already sensibly priced so they dont necessarily need a cheaper alternative.

BMW have sensible pricing but also put their top engine in a naked and an adventure bike giving more alternatives.

Think the new Fireblade will prove too expensive and too race focused. There are no decent alternatives from Honda so people will naturally look elsewhere.

The answer is almost certainly the S1000RR. More realistically priced and once they get over the gearbox and shift cam issues, likely the most successful racer

Funny you should say that - Honda USA have decided that the 'basic' RR-R is too dear so only the RR-R SP is coming in and the current SC77 ABS and Base model will be sold alongside the RR-R SP for substantially less.

Had confirmation from the Local Red Dealer, the 20 SP will be retailing for $49,990.00 plus orc with a June ETA. That's $20k AUD more than the BMW S1RR M and more than I paid for my MK 7.5 Dak Dak R! Now if we were talking about a new gen RVF V4 flagship for those chimichingas $ it would be a different story

Is this hot news? Basically meaning if you run a 17-19 UK bike you might be able to run a 55 tyre without massive problems?

I know nevsrevs here had some issues but not sure what tyres he'd gone up to and what else he might have done.

The problem with that strategy is it punishes their own loyal customers, I don’t get it, why not just think ahead and price it for the long term instead of punishing those loyal few who show their early commitment. It’s the very reason I have said before, it will never be me again, I had only just bought mine and then within weeks they chucked in the £2000 contribution, painful and it doesn't help being a Scotsman :D

I forgot about that - in the US Yamaha even entertained R1M riders with a meet and greet with The Doctor at COTA as well as the track day.. You know, to this day Honda have not even welcomed the US owners that pre-order the SP2. I don't think the walk-up SP2 buyers even got a welcome to Honda card. LOL

But at the BMW service department you're likely to be a more regular visitor and spend more each time ;)
