Looking for owner thoughts on KWAK H1 Mach III 500s Missed out on these as a youth as was a Yam kid at heart. Be grateful if anyone has first hand knowledge of these bikes and can impart some wisdom as I really fancy getting my hands on one.
Never been an owner, but worked on them in my mechanic days of the 70s. I reckon you'll pay quids (as you're probably aware) for either a project or good runner. They were heck of a bike and lethal in the wrong hands. Very light front end. You'd probably have to lurk on a relevant Kwaka forum to get the goss on parts etc. You'd never lose money on one though! Few on the bay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kawasaki...222324?hash=item3d97e2b5b4:g:87IAAOSwVTpd1wBW
Thanks Nige, Have one in my sights, but just casting a net to see any views, aware of the foibles, but who don’t like a light front end , reckon it’s time the Blade goes, which will be a major step after 21 years of continuous ownership.
Thought there would be more response to this call for help given the amount of 'older' members on here. Can understand the younger guys like @mk3golfcab though. His user name is even a synonym (yeah, look it up, Liam) of 'Mach 111. He'd read the words 'Mach 111' and look to the sky searching for an F1 11 about to break the sound barrier!
just been looking into the sky for ages. Can’t see anything Nigel! Unrelated but kind of related... my username is from my old VW days when I had a Golf Cabriolet (Mk3 - obviously) at 18, lowered 120mm on 14 inch wheels so it couldn’t get up a drop curb. What a shit car, but the name has stuck
I had a KH500 with full Rickman kit back in the 70's. It was phenomenal in a straight line but a b@stard through the bends, no doubt not helped by the (at the time) 90% nylon and 10% rubber we called tyres and the silly narrow rims that at the time we thought were huge.. Frames coud be a bit bendy as well, but I must admit it would be a nice trip down memory lane to ride one again on decent rubber. Fantastic engine, good looker, but a widow maker.
