I know this has been done before (I couldn't be ar$ed to find the old threads)

I saw the poll and the discussions on pricing for the new 2020 Blade, and wondered who if anyone, would consider an electric bike? ...maybe in a year or three when the current PCP ends.
It looks like there is a new manufacturer making what I think is a pretty good looking machine with some nice features (adjustable clipons and footrests) ...take a look

    Damon Motorcycle

Price is equivalent, more or less to a new Blade.

I'd rather poke my eyes out...

Half the joy of a proper bike is the intoxicating sound....:)

Unless you go back to being 7 again on your chopper and shouting vrrrooom vrrrooom lol ;)

I'd like a cheapie just for the experience. Problem is at the mo' there are no cheapies.

Saw the Damon in MCN, but I'd go the Pani 955 over the Damon any day. AND, I wouldn't have to take it to the USA charging stations!;)

Along with what @Lozzy said about the sound, for me there is also the smell of a nicely set up bike especially when at a track watching.
That bike does look smart and you would imagine riding with that amount or torque would keep you giggling all day but I would give it all up the day they finish with petrol engines.

Not until they can do 120+ miles on a charge, and recharge fully in under 15 minutes multiple times a day without knackering the battery.

They are a political social engineering project, mandated by the EU.

In surrendering the internal combustion motor you will loose the greatest ability to move freely, easily and cheaply that you have ever had - to be replaced by a lesser thing, mandated by fools and worse.

There is a plan to remove internal combustion engine vehicles from the transport landscape of Europe, but no intelligent plan that they can be replaced with electric.

There will be fewer vehicles, which is the idea. Less freedom for the masses to come and go as you choose - more restrictions due to the shortages of electric vehicles - internal combustion engine vehicles having been banned - will mean certain people will have to have a priority over others when allocating scarce electric vehicles - everyone equal but some more equal than others.

Good luck with that, and don't say I didn't tell you so.

Electric bikes are going to be great for commuters and people who potter about in the city centre. They'll never fit the bill for a Sunday morning toy though.

Well unless they make it mandatory for them to have a noticeable 'soundtrack' you can expect the RTC Vehicle v Pedestrian figures to rise...
But then again....culling the population will probably have a more positive effect on global warming blah blah than banning petrol engines

True. Some of the cars are so silent that they are downright dangerous!

It's amazing how lorries are legislated to have reversing beepers; fork lifts to have flashing lights etc, yet in some of the most populous places including supermarket car parks, these silent beasts spring from nowhere, with the ecologically concerned OAP at the wheel wearing glasses that can't see beyond the friggin' dashboard. Should outlaw them all - including dottering OAPs who shouldn't be behind a wheel in the first place!

You are making it sound like there will be a choice.

Hey, maybe we won't have much of a choice. Maybe we will all have to run 20 year old bikes because manufacturers are only making electric vehicles. But what isn't happening is a huge conspiracy to reduce the freedom of the masses. The world has become hell bent on trying to control the climate. They haven't become hell bent on stopping you getting around.

Won't be happening in my time.

Maybe I'm selfish, but I'll keep running my premium fuels, 8 Optimates and farting and burping as I always have.

If this contributes to my being shuffled off to my final resting place in an electric hearse, so be it!!;)

In the future will the removal of petrol/diesel personal vehicles be viewed in the same way as Dr Beeching's actions on the railways?
