I have this carbon heel plate I want to use but it need some tlc,
There was a thread on here where some sanded and lacquered carbon but for some reason it’s not coming up in a search.

can anyone point me in the right direction as to what grit sand paper and lacquer I will need.

I do searches like that in google by the way, just search for lacquer or heel guard then +1000rr.co.uk at the end and it will give you just results for this website. On this occasion I just clicked on the images tab and looked for a pic of the sanded down heel guard that like you I remember seeing in the past. Then can click to the thread from the image.

Magic, just fitted a set of these and they've started to scuff already. Didn't think you'd be able to just polish out :)

Even though I knew it could be done I never thought it would turn out so good. Incidentally if you goto your local car paint suppliers they will mix up 2pack lacquer in a rattle can for around £20. You twist the pin under the can and it mixes both parts. Lasts between 8 and 24 hours once activated.

2 pack is harder than single component stuff. It will be hard if being air dried within 48-72 hours and touch dry in a few hours but in less than a week you can Machine polish it. Obviously you can force dry it in an oven at maybe 40degrees. Ideally ask your paint supplier as they will have the full details along with coshh etc.
