I have both our cars (mine and the wife's) insured with Admiral on a multi policy.

I pay less for 2 cars than some other insurers quote for just one, so I am more than happy with the premium I pay.

This morning, got an email from Admiral to say that due to the reduction in traffic currentlyon the roads, this has led to a massive reduction in claims, and to that end policy holders will receive a £25 refund for each vehicle that is on risk..

My immediate thought was, this is a scam despite the address looking legit.

So I called them and yes, it is true.

Refunds will be paid out over the next couple of weeks.

Personally, I would have been happy for them to just reduce next years premium but any refund by an insurer withiut asking is a result in my book.

So thank you to Admiral. Nice to see that some insurers have a few morals still :)

Just seen that on the BBC online news, maybe other insurers will follow.

Bet not many bike insurers will be making any refund but a great gesture from Admiral

You would think they'd do it on a percentage.

I've just checked my Navara Ins, I'm with Admiral and will get a £25 refund !

    On another note

Just renewed the Blade and ZZR, was with Bemoto, but due to a incident and 3 points last year they want nearly a grand for the Blade, will not insure the ZZR. Even though if I go with a compare site I can get both on a individual policy with 3 years ZZR 9+ blade NCD with Bemoto for £900, but they wont on a multibike and both with AXA who were the multibike policy !!!!! And I've been with them for several years I did ring to see why this is, they basically over the phone said they would not insure both, but singularly on a compare site it would o_Oo_O

So I've now got the Blade for £392 with bikesure, ZZR for £111with Express, which came with a £44 discount, should have been £155, both basic fully comp.
All my multibike quotes came with the cheapest being around £700 for both, which was with Devitt or Bennett both with AXA and both for basic fully comp cover.

So those who have multibike I know its convenient, but you can save quite a amount of ££££ by doing Individual policies.

    I just don't get insurance:mad:

Bikesure are pretty good, I've changed to BeMoto interesting to see how they compare at renew time.

There renewal prices are weird they came back to me with a £580 for the year before last, thought I'd look around. By that time the Policy lapsed spoke to them to renew couldn't find it cheaper, but had to go through all the details again has policy expired they came back with £520 !!

I renewed with bemoto 3 or 4 weeks back. The renewal quote wasnt too bad, think it was a touch cheaper than the previous year. I asked them to change my mileage from 2500 to 5000 and they wanted an extra 85 quid or something. I told them I will cancel the renewal for now and have a look around. They called back an hour later and said they would make the change at the original price.

I agree. I did the same and insured separately when I had two bikes. Multi policy is convenient, but with text and email reminders, separate policies work fine for me too. Much cheaper.

I just got my E-mail from Admiral which reads - "If your car or van is one of the 4.4 million vehicles insured with us on 20 April 2020, you’ll get an automatic £25 refund per vehicle".
That's a full tank for free, Very nice :),

For that reason I would not of gone with them.
If an insurer quotes more than I can get it for on renewal and then says “we could do it cheaper” I would rather go with a new company.

Well on the flip side MCE are saying if you SORN your bike your insurance is invalid !!
so not even covered if the bike get stolen from your garage.

I'm also with Admiral with the car, happy with anything back to be honest - cant complain!

On the bike insurance debate. I do like Bemoto, they're easy going and modification friendly. And when I got the blade, they were the only company who would insure me well under the £1k mark.

I ran two separate policies for 2 years (one for the MT10 and one for the blade) as the multi bike policies were more expensive. I gave Bikesure a call to enquire about converting my MT10 policy to multi bike and they did it for £130. It is up for renewal in July (so only 3 months of cover) but they said the price I paid isnt pro rata and would be around the same regardless of when I did it.

....or they could be mugging me off and when it comes to renewal - I'll probably end up getting two separate policies again!

I'm curious about this and going to have to ask my insurer on renewal. Have you got a link to the article by chance?

My Blade was SORN till 2 weeks ago with my insurance lapsing around a month ago. When I told the insurer I was going to let the policy lapse, they did the sales thing and asked if I was concerned about bike theft or not. So if they said that, i'd assume the cover/policy I have/had in place still applies.

It was on a Facebook group, I would not have believed it but several guys who were with MCE Phoned them and were told the same thing.
Whether or not anyone actually checked with theIf underwriters or not I don’t know.
I work for Aviva and they certainly insure vehicles that are on SORN.
So it might just be the MCE call handlers have the wrong end of the stick.

Obviously if you had an accident with a SORN vehicle they could invalidate your cover, but I would not expect that for a theft claim, and as most brokers use the same underwriters, I’m inclined to think it’s bollocks.
