Will be in the novices and both looking forward to it and slightly nervous. So rusty this year and have been out a few times but will be taking it very easy. Going to be a bit weird but so ready to get out on track.

    Cheers,

    Mark

I did a track day with my wife and a friend a few years ago at Mallory. Hated it. It was so badly run. We had the meeting at the start telling us what to do etc then no one gave a shit. Thered was debris on the track which we reported . Was told dont worry about it. A girl on a rs125 got punted off by some meat head on a Ducati blasting round like he was fogarty. 2 blokes in front of me on track bikes one piece leathers blistered tyres ..I asked why they were in the novice group .they said they've done loads of track days but didn't know the track. Bollox they got a kick out of blasting past people and shitting them up. It was that bad neither of us did the final session. Haven't done another one since.

Had no real problems on NO-Limits run TD's, seem well run, done a few FE, they are ok if you do the timed days, everyone get out in the their group depends on their two session lap times. anyway enjoy mate, TD's can be awesome fun :)

my Avatar is from a TD at Cadwell btw :D

Unfortunately you can get idiots, but that's life in general.
The guys at the MSV circuits are very good at policing the groups to filter/move the idiots. I was even asked by one of the organisers at Cadwell last week if I was involved in an incident as they had highlighted bike 69 as the culprit. I just pointed out that it was another bike 69 as it's a popular number, can't think why...
Having said that, Mallory is not an MSV circuit, so unless the organiser get involved then nothing changes.

Sounds like you had a bad experience and it can be a bit like that sometimes. I found MSV mostly to be pretty good at weeding out the loons in the wrong group. It was a bit sketchy at one I did at Cadwell last year where the novice group seemed to be very quick and it was my first time there. Persevere, it's a lot of fun once the confidence comes up. The plan this year was to get happy enough on track to go in the inters but we'll see how we go.

    Cheers.

Enjoy your day tomorrow Dern - looks like the weather will be perfect for it. I had my first day of the season last week and it was great. Start off easy and work it up.

Depending on how quick you are, start at the back and then you don't need to worry about people coming up behind you for a few laps! Or if you're quick, start at the front and get clear of the pack which you don't want to get caught up in.

Been on Bedford MSV track days about 4 times and all good - except people taking it a bit too 'seriously' and smashing themselves up (last time out a guy lost it on the warmup lap and got airlifted away - stopped the sessions for quite a bit but MSV worked a fair way round it). Enjoy day out, weather looks good for it. Ride safe, hold your line and let everyone else ride round you (intermediate group all the way, would say everyone seems to know what they are doing and leave you alone - if you keep out of their way too)

Needn’t have worried, it all came back quite quickly. It’s like riding a bike.
