Funny part is... Honda only sells the complete fuel pump assembly, they don't sell only the fuel filter.
    And the price? 540£ + tax (664£ +/-).
They're out of their f####### minds.

Good find. Can it be cleaned or the filter replaced?

About what you’d expect - “We are sorry but it must have been something you did”. Maybe they run Hondas ABS complaints response department.

I'm actually convinced that what they're telling the truth, but maybe those pads shouldn't be advertized as Race or Trackday "ready", or at least they should have a warning of some sort regarding the durability.

Anyway, at least they offered a couple of pads for me to try out on the track, and since I didn't expected nothing in return from this, I call it a...

So... My Estoril Crash... a gift that kept on giving...
2 weeks ago I finally brought the bike home from my in-laws... 80km ride, behind my wife driving the car, nothing crazy, all good.
A couple of days later took her for a proper ride... at that point it was 2.5 months since the crash, and I had not rode her properly since.
Morning after, went to the garage... and found this...

Had no idea what it was, couldn't find the source of the leak, too her to the shop.

A couple of days later, the bad news... Turns out that a small rock from the estoril gravel trap somehow got jammed between the attack pinion and the gearbox sealant, and I didn't see it nor heard anything strange riding the bike... And sure enough, the rock damaged the sealant...

And the worse news were... it's a cheap part, but changing it requieres the engine to come off the bike and be opened...

    Got her back today...
Good news are that engine is in great shape, considering the kms on it (almost at 99.000 kms), bad news are my wallet is 670€ lighter.

    Ouch!
I can't believe how it can't be removed insitu though as it's no different to a wheel bearing seal. Would it not have been possible to push a hook or screws through the rubber seal and pull it out?

Glad it got sorted - but I think I'm going to vomit after reading the price!

Not to say you got ripped off or anything, just the shit situation in that the whole thing had to be torn apart to replace a cheap part.

Well, I don't know... but.. I completly trust my mechanic... if he says it has to take the engine apart, I believe him.

I was really lucky... I got that right the first try...
He was also involved in racing, was the lead mechanic of Luis Carreira, Portuguese rider that made some appearances in the Isle of Man, unfortunately killed in Macau a few years ago.
