I have left mine a few days draining, I did the initial drain then left a tray under, I was quite surprised how much extra came out. and I always drain with the oil hot

Out of interest - do you lot tend to increase the frequency of oil and filter changes on older bikes?
Mine is done annually, and I probably do less than 5000 miles a year. However, its a 2008 so is getting older (still only 15,000 mi though). I may start doing oil and filters a bit more regularly - 6 months or 2,500 miles, say.
    Discuss. :p

I tend to do mine once a year regardless of the mileage, will change it a bit more often if I get some decent trackdays in. Prob change it more than I really need to.

Once a year for me, Oil is designed for probably 50k we do 3k to 6k a year, until I see oil company's saying their oil will do 3k and last less than 1 year I think every thing is fine
Most car/industrial gearboxes are filled to run 24/7 for years

Mines been done twice a year as it was still getting dealer service, snd I slways do one at the start of the year/season as it will have spent all winter in a unheated garage. Now the warranty has expired I will just do my normal once a year, same as I used to do on my rr7 when it was 9+ years old.

I guess it just depends how hard you ride it. I frequently see the rev limiter, so I change more frequently.

I always change the oil/filter before the winter break, chemically in use the oil forms an acidic state, and although the manufacturers stuff in many additives, for the sake of £50, rather not leave that hanging around coated all over the engine when laid up for a few months.

I've never heard that, will have to do some reading to see at what stage of an Oil's life that happens at a significant level, and if necessary change my start of season change to an end of season one.

unless you're in a hurry, drain the oil from the filter and reuse it
