This has been done and done and done:rolleyes: I’m sure
But the garage I used for my last service used putoline syntec 4 and I was going to use the same but it looks like it does not exist any more.
    Is there an alternative?

My two penneth: I either use Motul 7100 or Silkolene Pro 4 as both are full ester synthetics, and are usually readily available. I prefer 10w/40 in the interests of reduced oil consumption.

As per Hondas recommendation, so on the 1000s 10/30, on the older bikes 10/40

When you look at the manual they overlap, in the operating temp, but being no oil expert, I just follow the book.

I have a couple of litres in the for sale section as the 1000s gone.

I've been using Motul 300v 10w/40 in mine. No issues with it and I plan to keep using it.

Castrol Power 1, 10/40. If you read about oil on any forums it will do your head in. I went with what I usually buy for my bikes. :D

Currently Silkolene Pro 4 10W-40 as it was free. Either 10W-30 or 10W-40 will be fine in this climate.

I always use 10/40 semi in my bike and in my oid cbr600rr, never had any issues, to be right I think all oils are pretty good these days, but that could be another debate!!!!!!.

I stand to be corrected here by an expert, but manufacturers specify the oil for the region in which the bike operates, which is largely based on average ambient temperature due to the changes in viscosity at a given temperature, and listed as a figure ie 10/30, that gives rise to multi grade oils as almost most wear is from a cold start, so a single grade in modern engines with the wide temperature operating window and ability to rev highly would not be beneficial to engine protection and longevity, and also specify the minimum standard ie the JASO/MA and the API quality level, once you have got that, then in my eyes any oil meeting that standard can be used and should perform the same and be able to be mixed with other manufacturers oils of the same grade and spec, and then it’s a matter of personal preference as to what you brew you like.

So there’s an awful lot of marketing BS that goes into the sales blurb to tempt us to purchase one product over another and like all sheep I happily follow my favourite food without question unless something goes awry and I get a gut ache or the trots.

Disclaimer, the above maybe total bollox and I have got it completely wrong, which according to Mrs KB is a daily occurrence, so might be safer to make up your own mind what’s best to stick in yer pride and joy.

is there any actually benefit between the 10w30 and 10w40. All my old bikes have used 10w40.
Is it actually a big difference for fuel economy on 2015 blade i have or is it negligible

Motel 5100 10W-30. Always. In pre-1000 models and 600F 10W-40.All a question of personal preference, like Tyres (always Bridgestones for me).
