No way my local dealer has sold 2 but in saying that say some of the large dealers have done 5 it could be near that figure ....35 or so....on insurance went to do the car today and even valued it 9k less than last year still the same price - they can jog on going to shop about...

Yes, mine is SP-L, the 'L' being the VIN 10th digit for year, as you're probably aware.;)

They won't show up until the third quarter though cos the main release was about July 2nd. Those few bikes are probably media and test bikes.

50 does sound a lot for just 1 insurance provider.

Good. I'm glad it's not just me. I suspect there's a bit of trumpet blowing going on there, OR he has offered figures of all CBR1000RR (not RR-R) insured this year.
I know that from 2 smaller dealers (Blade Honda, Stratford-upon-Avon) has sold only mine, and Suttons (Bromsgrove) detailed they'd sold none when I made a service enquiry.

Perhaps the big powerhouses like Hunts, Dobles, Craigs, et al have sold many, but for them to all go under one 'minor' insurer? Friggin' big call!

I’m thinking over the next few months or into the new year they will have some discounts or 0% financing packages about! I’d love to get my hands on one to modify! Gearing and a lot less weight Should equate to some much needed drive down low and some character.... 2k into the V4s and still loving it! It’s still totally bonkers.... Smiles per mile:D:D:D

Kent Motorcycles on the A2 have sold 3 RR-Rs (2 red/white/blue and 1 black) and 1 stock plus their demo RR-R is probably registered as sold, as of yesterday.

Letchworth Honda sold two before they arrived. Both SP spec.

They have a SP spec demo bike, and a standard Black one for sale.. not sure if thats gone yet.

My local dealer (Letchworth Honda) kindly let me have a go on the CBR1000RR-R demo bike yesterday. They are limiting demos on the bike, so am grateful they let me out.

First thoughts are that the bike is comfy and easy to ride out on the road, even the body position is totally fine for me. I have a 2017 RA-H FireBlade, and found the new RR-R easier to ride and just as comfortable if not more so. I'm 5'8" and 65kg if that helps. Body position-wise.. I think the bars are slightly wider which helps, and you sit taller on the bike.. there is more room between head and tank (if that makes sense!).

I can't recall reading this.. but the induction noise on the bike, above 6k rpm, is to die for. It is so addictive it's crazy. The exhaust also opens up around this rpm, and sounds lush.

My 2017 bike is faster on the road though - more real world power. With the RR-R you just can't get anywhere close to the upper rev range (where all the extra power is) on the road. I never used 5th or 6th gear once.. and I was riding on A/B roads up to 3 figures. It started to rain so couldn't go too crazy. I would think that a decent sprocket change and SpeedoHealer could fix that.. I think Honda designed it this way to pass emissions.

One small point, I found the bike harder to turn at 30mph or so, this was likely down to the longer wheelbase and the 200 rear tire. Nothing crazy, just something that needs concentration.

I love the bike.. and would buy one in a heartbeat. It is comfy, easy to ride, fast and makes a beautiful noise. Love it to death. Oh.. and it gets lots of attention on the roads!

A bit of a treat to be allowed to take it for a blast.

People might remember the Bike Me review of the 2014 Fireblade and Boris said that -

"...you wouldn't even know that it was capable of turning your brain into garbage unless you turn that thing on the right real hard ! :D

Not sure if this new Fireblade is quite like that, but it seems to have a bit of that about it. Pootle along happily all day at pootle along speeds - with no idea of what is waiting for you unless - you turn that thing on the right real hard !

I see BMW have had to up their game already.......

Dash looks really nice. 5ft8 and 65kg is definitely a great build for riding sportsbikes! Lucky you.

Cheers.. but often I think i'm too light for the bike. Have had to take a few turns out on spring rate.

I believe the normal 'Sport' version is easy to buy. I know the Welwyn dealer has one.

I rode my friends 2015 S1000RR.. and it is savage compared to the blade. Raw and instant power on tap. The Blade (my 2017 and the newer 2020 included) is much more friendly, and doesn't bite as hard.

Went out with a girl once with the perfect 36-24-36 figure. Shame that was just her left leg :p
