Where was it leaking from? There was a recall on 06 models (I had one from new) :

    2006 HONDA CBR1000RR
CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES HAVE AN IMPROPER WELDED VENT PIPE IN THE BOTTOM OF THE FUEL TANK. DUE TO VIBRATION THE IMPROPERLY WELDED TANKS MAY CRACK AND DRIP FUEL. DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE FUEL TANK FREE OF CHARGE

Thanks for that Ian will have a look and if it appears that that where it is leaking will be putting back together and taking it to the dealers

I think you can probably check on line (using Chassis number) to see if the recall work is done (assuming records go back that far!) The recall was a check and replace if necessary. Mine was checked at a few weeks old but didn't need replacing.

I got my 07 fuel cell replaced under warranty even though it was 10 years since the recall! Dealers don’t mind as it’s money in their pockets. Here’s the link, put your chassis number in:)
