That is amazing - my mum lives in the Isle of Wight. There are some great roads in the West of the Island. An excellent loop from Carisbrooke, Freshwater, Chale, Niton and back.

They have quite recently resurfaced a lot of the roads as well. Some amazing bits of road.

    That is great news.

I will tell my mum and her WI friends to vote for it :D

This picture was taken before they resurfaced the road - awesome bit of road. At night with the sea on one side in the moonlight - rises, falls twist and turns. First time I really wrung the neck of my Suzuki was along there - eye opener that was !!

Got this picture up at home...

Looks like they are serious - all about it from Bennets:

When I heard about it I thought I hope they realize how fast it is along that Military Road - awesome

Anyone else planning to go ?

    My Mum's old house - on the left @ 8.40 mins !

I think there is a better course - but maybe too fast.

Brighstone - Carisbrooke (outside of Newport) - Calbourne - Freshwater - Freshwater Bay - Military Road - Brook - Brighstone

The Calbourne Roard is epic and that bit of the Military Road from Freshwater (my pictures above) is much more interesting than the flat bit in the video. But if you go off the road there you will need a parachute ! :D

Maybe this course is an attempt to slow it down a bit as the Calbourne Road is very quick. If things went badly for you on the Calbourne Road you could be going very quickly. The winding roads through Chale are technical but not that fast really.

My mum sent me this Introduction to Diamond Races circular that has been sent to all of the households in The Isle of Wight.

Seems to me they are keen to get this on in October. They have set out all of the questions and answers - it seems people are in favor of locally. That bit of the Island id not so heavily populated and can be sectioned off mostly and the rest of the Island can do about its business unaffected by traffic disruption.

Not heard anything further, but it could be on.....
