I find it hard to believe anyone actually reads the highway code...despite what they say on here

Not read the Highway code since 1984
I recall both my kids going through their tests and neither of them ever caught me out 'testing' me as they learned it for their own tests.
As a bit of a petrol head I find I pick up most if not all changes / updates through forums like this one, magazines and other general motoring bollocks that I follow.

A highway code question from the kids test, you are going 30 in a 30 limit and someone is up your arse, what do you do A, stay at 30 B, speed up C, slow down Answer C slow down I got that one wrong, If I ever came across road rage idea this would be it

Each to their own, personally I like to skim over any updates that come out. Just think it’s handy to have up to date knowledge especially at times when I’m driving a 44t articulated lorry.

But where are you getting informed that these updates are out?
I suppose if you take an active interest in the Highway Code you’ll be all over it, but for me it was just something I had to know, and then that’s it.

It was more important when I used to drive HGV but now not as relevant

Yes you pretty much have to take interest in updates. For me it doesn’t do any harm spending a minute or two once a year. It’s published on the government website.

Well some of us do have to keep up to date

As an advanced instructor/examiner, CBT/DAS instructor, crash investigator I cannot do my job without being up to date as it can be used to support points of law, but as a matter subject expert (one of the panel that writes questions for the theory test) I need to know what is in there.

Amazing how many people say that they know the Highway Code and then when you ask a few simple questions it is quite clear that they do not have a clue.

I wish the old declaration was re-introduced.
