Apologies guys if this has been over talked about again and again.

I have an aftermarket can on the bike and the cables for the flapper valve are still on the bike and tucked under the heat shield. I was trying to work out how to get to the pulley so I can completely remove the cables but cant see and easy way to do this. I believe the pulley is near the battery but I can't see how to get to it. Do you have to move the plastic under the battery to get to it? The haynes manual hasn't really been much help

    Thanks in advance

I can only tell you in the 2013 it's a case of removing the undertray.. it's behind the back plastics exhaust side...

The flapper mod generally refers to the flaps in the intake, in front of the air box.
You seem to be referring to the exhaust valve servo?
If I've got you right, then it is located in the battery compartment, under another cover if i recall, and quite easy to get at. Certainly i did mine using just my Haynes manual.
If you remove the servo/pulley you will need a "servo eliminator" to stop warning lights appearing.

I have just removed the cables so no need for eliminator, it is then easier to refit if you want to sell etc
