This is the standard insert off my Ducati, its quite substantial and has got a good bit of weight to it. I had to buy a longer 80mm M6 bolt as the lever guard came with an M8 bolt. I managed to find an Oxford products set of bar ends that were similar in finish and weight so matches up ok I think.

Just watching the build up to the moto GP and see the close racing in moto3 with lever guards pointing the sky after a few bumps.

I can see how these help and yes if it goes wrong on a track day it may help but surely it makes far more sense to get it into people heads that a track day is not a race meet and the number 1 priority should be respecting other peoples space.

If at any point you put yourself or someone else in the position where a lever guard can stop a crash just have a word with yourself and if you dont have the special awareness required the stewards should be pulling people on it.

They're like a 'use once' piece of equipment.......just about does its job and is rendered useless after a collision.......

Hi so I need to get a brake guard too for my Honda which is the 2015 model. I can’t believe how hard this is proving to be . I am not certain that the German product is suitable , any advice comments appreciated. I certainly think a pair is better than one due to the weights , thanks .

Fitting them can be a bit fiddly, depends if you intend on taking the weight out or just doing the fix that Dern described earlier... R & G will fit, as will lightech, Acossatto and most others I expect or you can just grab an ebay one and save a load of cash? .... I've not bothered doing both, I've also not noticed an more vibes in my bar which is essentially what they are there for....

As a follow up the bodge I did worked fine on track. It didn't move or vibrate and taking one bar end off leaving the insert in place had no ill effects. The cheap crap grub screws did vibrate out on the trailer on the journey there though. Fortunately I had the two from the other side and just taped it all together to stop it happening again. Even with the tape they didn't look twice at it when doing noise testing.

Well I've decided on Dern tribute. I want the ability to swap easily between road and track. So like Dern I leave the Honda insert in, but instead of a screw, silicone seal the thing in place to stop it moving about. R&G guard screwed in with washers used as spacers. Seems solid enough.

I expressed a similar opinion elsewhere and was told it was because of a fatality at Snetterton turn 2 hairpin. It seems that a lever guard would have prevented the incident.

Are you pleased with them? The OE one on my bike are feeling a bit old. Did you go with medium or soft? Thanks
